    Resurrected Power Metal Thread

Not a huge fan of that Dragonland song, wasn't too bad I guess. Another year almost over, another year with bugger all good power metal. This album was pretty good though. Singer's not too amazing but the speed, energy and riffs more than make up for it: New Iron Savior should be out...

    The official metal 2011 thread

It looks like it's a one-track-album too, should be interesting. Will have to order it. PN is not something I listen to regularly, but when I'm in the mood for it, it's perfect. While on the topic of Avant Garde Metal, new Unexpect is pretty good: Also liking new Ouroboros:

Just going to steal Tim's idea from last year. Yoink!: ...except 2010 albums obviously.

    Save Ne Obliviscaris!

Finally got around to writing and sending the letter. If you need me to change anything or spot any typos or find any bits that ramble on too much or don't really make sense, then give us a hoy and I'll rewrite it and resend a new, less incoherent version. Dunno know why I typed 'mitigation'...

    The Rock/Metal/Alternative VIOLIN thread

That was waaayyyyyy better than that other Eurovision song they did. Maybe I should go check out the rest of their stuff rather than writing them off after hearing one song.

    Resurrected Power Metal Thread

Blind Guardian's Imaginations from the Other Side is pretty much the gold standard for harsh vocals in power metal I reckon. Savage Circus and Persuader are also quite good examples, but both sound VERY similar to mid career Blind Guardian, due to having the same singer who sounds ridiculously...

That is a pretty good song, don't know if I'd rate it higher than Ryme of the Ancient Mariner, And Then There Was Silence, Helloween etc. If you like folk metal epics, you may like Finsterforst - Zum Tode Hin. At 5 tracks in 70 minutes it's like 5 Manas in one album. Probably my favourite Folk...

Death metal w/ synth and Slayer album recommendations

Going to plug a few Aussie DM bands with keyboards: Aeon of Horus - Only use keyboards sparingly, but when they do, it gives the songs some pretty cool atmosphere. eg about 2:15 into this: Be'lakor - Melodeath, more prominent use of keys. They seem to be getting some pretty good...

Upcoming Australian Gigs/Tours by Australian Artists (Plug your bands)

My sister and a few of her friends are organising this festival, dunno if this will appeal to any of the metalheads here.... http://www.festlafrog.com/ 3 day music festival at French Island with a focus on making it as sustainable as possible. Funny thing is they were going to call it 'Fest...

    Save Ne Obliviscaris!

Just noticed the letter writing option to the mitigation review panel on the facebook page. Is it too late to write the letter?

Lord/Dungeon are pretty awesome live and Tim is a great guitarist, but for some reason Lord has never really clicked for me. Not sure why. Might go and reinvestigate some of their discography. I got really excited when I read that, then went and listened to it and was a bit disappointed...

    WORST 2010 albums

 Didn't think I'd hear anything worse than Helloween's Unarmed this year but somehow Charlemagne managed to take the cake.

ACHTUNG- ONE OF OUR FAMILY NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Ahhh, this sucks. Wuthering Heights' Salt has been easily my favourite album of 2010, so I can't not help out as a way of saying thanks. Cash sent.
