I wouldn't hate it, but it wouldn't be the same you know? A big part of Opeth (for me at least) is the switch between the growls and clean vocal styles in many of songs.
But Damnation was good, and if Opeth made an entire album that was full of songs like 'Face of Melinda' I would not be...
Face of Melinda, Requiem, Dirge for November, Credence, Patterns in the Ivy II, and To Bid You Farewell
Also, I find Moonlapse Vertigo to be quite sad (5:26-6:00). Definately not their saddest, but sad.
Face of Melinda, I heard it and just went *wow* So I immediately went about bought Still Life, than Orchid, than Blackwater Park, than Morningrise, and then...the rest of the albums.
Damn, Opeth OWNS!
I love Dissection, that's one of the bands that I'm basing this off of. What do you mean take the keys out?
THe problem is, I can't find any of their tabs with keyboards :P

2) I'm having some troubles coming up with the keyboard stuff that's ever so apparent in Black Metal (I love it). The atmosphere is just so great when you have that, but I'm just...
Woot, now I have a ton more bands to check out! Thanks guys, keep em coming.
BTW, I own every Amon Amarth album out :) Yep, good shit. Though I'd classify them as Viking or Viking-Death Metal myself.
Thanks

Thanks so much :) I just finished compiling a list of all the recommendations now :P
Heh, here's about 40 to 46 albums I have to download/buy :P Wow. That's so cool. Let's get some more ideas flowing!
I'm compiling all the recommendations that I haven't checked out so far into a single list, for my own peace of mind. But that certainly doesn't mean stop!
Melodic Death Metal
Amon Amarth - Once Sent From a Golden Hall
Amorphis - The Karelian Isthmus
Arghoslent - Incorrigible Bigotry...
I went to theendrecords.com and got two of their tracks...I think that's where I went. I got two of their songs. Amazon.com has their albums for a two-in-one package for something like 5 dollars :)
Thanks so much for the recommendations guys, I'm discovering some really awesome bands that...
