Converting guitar tabs into scores. Is there a programme that can help?

One program that helped me learn from tablature to notation (backwards from your problem but still might help) was http://www.powertabs.net the site has the editor for download and thousands of songs that people have tabbed out. In the program you input the tab and it automatically notates...

    What scale is this?

    It fits the B Phrygian mode of the G major scale. The whole lot of that shape looks like: e --7--8--10- B --7--8--10- G --7--9----- D --7--9--10- A --7--9--10- E --7--8--10- hope it helps

    Types of Picks

I use dunlop 1.5 mm, the purple ones, and i love them. Generally i hear that thicker picks are for more precision and solos, whereas thinner picks are better for strumming techniques, but yeah, go for whatever is most comfortable for you.

Chords that aren't based off of thirds

Secondary dominant, that's what they are when you base a chord or a progression of chords off of the fifth. For the fourth, idonno.

    Anybody use Sibelius

I've only played around with Sibelius a little bit, but from the demos that come with it, it has a bloody ton to it. I've also played around with Finale 2003 a good bit, and since I'm more familiar with it I prefer it over Sibelius, although i know Sibelius can convert midi files to score as...

    Dimarzio X2N vs EMG 81

Im not sure about the EMG, but I love my Dimarzio X2N, as it has an awesome crunch that doesnt hide what you play. Good luck with whatever you choose.

    Question About Dimarzio X2N

The best place I know to get one would be Musicians Friend's website, it runs 75-79 bucks (depending on color), and has a bunch of color options, and is mailed right to you. Best of luck to you

    Question About Dimarzio X2N

I just bought and installed a Dimarzio X-2n Pickup, and it is one of the greatest decisions i have made. It brings an extremely clear sound, which leaves no room to hide, but manages to carry across one of the coolest sounds I've ever heard on a live guitar. With my peavey express amp my axe...

Well, I hate to say it but I have no idea what to do to help, although it happens to me too, sometimes. However, that picture of Megatron fucking rocks, as I love that movie

why are metal muscicains more interested in classical music?

Well I was driving along, listening to the new All That Remains album, This Darkened Heart some time after I had read this post, and listening to the first track, a little before the solo section I found the simple answer to the question. Its just a damn awesome combination and there's no way...

What do you think about people who dont want to learn any covers?

Hell yeah. When Death covered Painkiller and Chuck screamed the shit out of his voice to imitate Halford's ungodly screams, it fucking rocked. Of course you dont want to overkill the covers, if that's all you do, then that's all your fingers will do when you try to write songs. However just...

    clean pickup?

I can't say that I've ever really given single coils a chance... i'll go to the axe-shop around here and check some out. As for the switch I would have to add... do you mean the pickup switch that changes from the bridge pickup to the neck pickup? or would i have to replace that one, or need a...

    clean pickup?

Can anyone tell me a pickup that sounds great clean? I'm looking for a sound similar to Jeff Loomis' (from Nevermore), or really just a pickup that brings a clear, crisp and clean tone. Thanks -needle-
