    SX guitars

The shop where I work stocks a few SX guitars and basses, and I wouldn't recommend them. I guess they'd do if you were on a really tight budget, but still had the money to customize the crap out of it :guh:

Good tones from an Engl Pro 1x12 cab?

I'm considering getting a 1x12 to record with, potentially an Engl Pro E112V. Anyone got some experience with these? How do they sound? I'll probably either get this, or build my own cab and load it with an English V30 or Greenback. Just running through an unmodded 5150II.

Any idea what's wrong with my 5150?

I work in a music shop and have taken it to a qualified Peavey tech a couple of times now. We're in the process of eliminating possible faults, but as far as he can see there's nothing obviously wrong on the circuitboard (including the caps). Anything else it could possibly be? Thanks for the...

    Buying my first 7 String

Yeah you're probably right. We just got in a brand new C7 from the factory and had it setup by our tech and I couldn't put it down. Totally awesome guitar. I work in a music shop btw

Any idea what's wrong with my 5150?

I've got a 5150II with a strange (fatal) problem. Whenever I turn it on, it powers up, all the valves light up, then about 10 seconds later they all turn off again. The amp does function for those 10 seconds, but it never has time to get up to volume anyway. All the power lights on the front...

Dead 5150, any ideas on problem?

Exactly the same thing happened to me a couple of months ago. I work at an authorized Peavey dealing music shop, so I took it in to the tech. It turned out to be the internal fuses (although none of them were actually blown). Take it to someone who knows what they're doing and it should be ready...

What's the best way to record a loud amp?

Assume that I'm not going to get anything reamped for the time being... then what would you say about using a dummy load and impulses?

What's the best way to record a loud amp?

I'm in a situation where I'm unable to crank my amps up, but still want to record. I've been searching around the forum but can't figure out what the best plan of attack is. I have a 5150II (loud fuckers!!) into a VK212 (until I can afford a nicer cab). What do you guys think is the best way to...

    I got a pretty sweet deal on a 5150II

I managed to score a 2nd hand 5150II for NZ$700 (US$500). It needed new valves and a bit of a service so I had brand new 6L6's from my ValveKing thrown in there and a service done for $100. That's a fully functioning 5150II for NZ$800 (US$570)! :Smokedev: Now I just need a cab

Sweet! We're all going to get Engl endorsements!

    SAE musical institute

I did the 9 month Diploma here in New Zealand straight out of high school. It was great for me, since I was just getting into recording and all that, definitely taught me a lot about recording, and it was a hell of a lot of fun. I'm very glad I did it, but it was only $6000NZ when I did it...

    Can I Get Some Feedback?

I don't really have any tips for you, but that could sound a lot worse!

    Best DAW

I'm a huge Cubase fan myself, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone just starting out unless you have a lot of time to spend figuring out how to do certain things. From what I've seen, Reaper looks very good.

    kiwi metal

Haha why? Because its the DFH one? If that's the case I only need to avoid showing it to engineers who know that sound! I've changed it to a nicer one from superior 2.0 now just to appease you, I'll upload it later on.

    kiwi metal

->Ernie<- Metal written by Donobag and I. Check out the other tracks if you dig it, 5 others up now :muahaha: The tone from most of this came from the Johnson J-Station's Rectifier patch (wicked little pedal), with some assistance from the GT-10. Recently we've gained access to a Powerball...
