    What happened to this forum?

I figured out this all depends on me just putting my time. Nobody can actually teach you exactly how to use compression and EQ. You have to experiment yourself, a lot, and forums are totally counterproductive to that. 2 hours reading online is equivalent to about 30 seconds of actual practice...

Is mixing with a laptop viable?

Laptop processors have come a long, looooong way in just the last couple years. The only ones that are still weak compared to desktops are the low voltage ones that are in thin laptops (usually end with just a U). The MQ is "full" power and all things considered, extremely fast for the size of...

New Entry to Monitor Market - Signals Clarity

Hahaha, what....... At $600, you expect them to be powered because a lot of cheaper monitors are? Or $600 is too much for passives? The Squawk Box on their site is more interesting to me personally but I always like seeing smaller shops come up with speakers. Was a huge fan of Elemental...

New Two Notes Reload - loadbox, DI, reamping, attenuator all in one

Just got mine today, just messed around with the loadbox recording for all of 25 minutes. Very encouraging ... with some dialing in, this is going to sound super sick. Blows my old Hot Plate out of the water completely and its numbered 39 of 50? strange. didn't know it was limited edition...

New Two Notes Reload - loadbox, DI, reamping, attenuator all in one

Sounds real good. Nice! I just ordered up a Reload so I'll do some tone tests when it shows up

New Two Notes Reload - loadbox, DI, reamping, attenuator all in one

Just read the manual and you are right. Maybe it's the French-English translation on the website but it wasn't really all that clear. Are you happy with the way the Torpedo sounds?

New Two Notes Reload - loadbox, DI, reamping, attenuator all in one

Looks pretty neat to me http://www.two-notes.com/en/hardware/torpedo-reload/ Ola did a video with it already. Sounds pretty good but I dunno about the Wall of Sound plugin audio quality.. I used a hotplate for awhile for loadbox/attenuation/direct recording from power amp and was...

buying a tube head without being able to play it loud!?

I run my Engl Invader into a THD Hotplate. 16 ohms since that matches my Orange cab. Then I use the line out from the Hotplate so I am recording from the power amp, run that into the Axe FX, and only use it for the IR. Sounds really good, I thought I had my Axe totally dialed for a sick tone...

Signals ZomBass 1.0 (Fender J-Bass Kontakt Instrument)

Just grabbed the DIs yesterday, $20 a steal of a deal! Haven't had a chance to use it yet but I'm psyched, sounds a lot less mechanical than Trilian does. Cool to see somethin like this come from a local place. If you ever come visit us here in Shredwood Manor I'll get ya a beer

Stereo widening - mid/side EQ or stereo enhancers?

I'm happier than ever with the tonal balance & qualities of everything in my mix, but now I want to work on getting it to sound wider. It feels like I'm only using maybe 80% of the range of my speakrs - my guitars never sound as "far apart" as a pro release right now. I usually just double track...

    Solid State drives for DAW

yes sorry I should have clarified. The SSD technology itself is fine, but the guys making the drives sometimes have issues with cutting corners on product testing. I have an OCZ drive as the main one in my computer because it was the biggest one I could get for the money at the time, but I don't...

    Solid State drives for DAW

SSD hands down the best upgrade you can make to any computer. I have two in mine so I run Cubase and all of my big sample VSTs from a SSD... Superior loads instantly. About 30 seconds from the Windows desktop to a playable project file with all instruments loaded. I still have to pull my project...

    Danza 4

lol which version do you have then? I'd kill for one without clipping. At first I thought I had blown my monitors but I notice it on my PC speakers, earbuds, headphones and truck stereo even.. I have the 320kpbs torrent version then the 256kbps iTunes version as well

    Danza 4

Album is sick, I love it. Guitars clip frequently on both versions I have though... gets really annoying after awhile. If I can find a CD local I might pick it up to see if I just have two bad digital rips but I haven't heard an album with guitars that clip this bad since Burn the Priest
