Opeth Song Survivor - Round 3 - Blackwater Park (Vote for the WORST song)

The Funeral Portrait is losing? Damnit what is WRONG with you people?

I have found a band that's as good as OPETH

Katatonia confuse me. Songs with verses and choruses with predictable structures shouldn't be good. Somehow Katatonia manages though. Katatonia are probably my third favorite band behind Tool and Opeth.

    Much Music

Well, in that case, if she starts walking funny then we'll know she interviewed Tool.

    Deadsite background clip

Wherever it came from, it's strangely hypnotic. I won't turn it on, because when I do I just can't stop listening to it!

    The cheese in Opeth

    "You-sleep-in-the-light yet-the-night-and-the-silent-water -still-so-dark."

Opeth-Windowpane (not the full song, only 2:33 preview of it)

I'm glad Mikael finally stopped singing about death and despair and started focusing on what's really important in life.

    Thanks a lot, pal.

As long as Face of Melinda was already ruined by someone else... Take a nice good look at these two lines: "Still I plot to have her back, contentment that would fill the crack."

So what do all of you think of Katatonia?

Katatonia rock. If you like Tonight's Decision, you'll be sure to like LFDGD. Not only should most Opeth fans enjoy them, but Opeth themselves love the band.

    Thanks a lot, pal.

Who needs to misinterpret lyrics? Some are disgusting just the way they are. Take MDB's "The Cry of Mankind". "You'll swallow his tongue" <pause> "of thorns" "His mouth dripping" <pause> "with flies". They couldn't be more obvious if these lines read "Satan rides the Man Train".

    Katatonia

Katatonia changed formats at some point in their career. You've heard one of the pre-Discouraged Ones albums, which are growled, around-10-minute-long atmospheric masterpieces. They changed to more rigid structure and shorter song lengths after that, but for some strange reason they're still...

Favorite Song From Each Opeth Album?

Orchid: In the Mist she was Standing Morningrise: The Night and the Silent Water(screw you Mikael) MAYH: When Still Life: The Moor Blackwater Park: The Funeral Portrait Deliverance: A Fair Judgement

    Worst Opeth Album

Given the choice between losing any Opeth albums and having to sit through a Mariah Carrey concert, I'd have to think for a while, but then I'd probably get rid off....um....er....oh fuck it, I'll get some earplugs...

You know you like Opeth too much when...

"You know you like Opeth too much when..." -you refer to Gerald Ford as the Demon of the Fall. -your daughter's name is April. And her middle name is Ethereal. -you can draw the Opeth 'O'. -or have attempted to at least. -many times.

    Tool?

All in favor of ending this thread before it turns into a clone of the last one like it?

Deliverance was my First Opeth album...now where to go?

Let's see: MAYH is definitely heaviest, and seems most analagous to Deliverance than any of their other albums. Still Life and Blackwater Park are more melodic and easy to get into, but have plenty to keep you interested for years to come. Orchid and Morningrise have a sort of less-refinied...
