    Anders Friden on Jon Schaffer

I'll say this much: I went to see the 2002 Iced Earth tour as an Iced Earth fan, having heard 4 or 5 In Flames songs. In Flames blew me and everyone else there the fuck away. I saw a bunch of people who were having a blast during IF leaving midway through Iced Earth. Me? I like Iced Earth...

The Quiet Place Promo My Review

What? No. Listen to "Carnival Diaries" by Passenger. Then, listen to "Borders & Shading" from this promo. Tell me that the Carnival Diaries riff isn't recycled and sped up, verbatim in Borders & Shading. You can't, because it is. The comparison to Passenger stems more from Anders clean...

Been listening to Tokyo Showdown again

Karen '99 is my favorite live recording of a band ever. It has so much passion and energy, I never get sick of hearing it. I like Anders vocals on that boot better than anything else I've ever heard of him. Also, to whoever said Japanese crowds are quiet and inactive, listen to "Tokyo Tales"...

    In_Flames-The_Quiet_Place-Promo_CDS-2004-BiM

"Borders & Shading" lifts the main riff directly from the Passenger song "Carnival Diaries," and speeds it up. Listen to that song, and then Borders & Shading, if you don't believe me. That said, Anders clean vocals are, as on Passenger, a marked improvement from their RTR days, although still...

    Roll Call 12/12 Brooklyn NY

We tried... honestly, we tried! I went with Steve and his brother... I'm sure Steve will post the details eventually. Long story short, getting lost in Brooklyn sucks.

Does Daniel Svensson speak any English?

I've spoken to Daniel a couple times. My buddy and I had a conversation with him for about 15 minutes in New York last August, after their show with Slayer. Just shooting the breeze, talking about RtR, etc. He's a really cool guy.

    Opeth license plate

Hey, I saw that car near Irving at the January NY gig! I thought that was awesome. Didn't notice it at the gig on Thursday, though.

    The Worst Coverartwork!!!

Audioslave's cover is by far the worst anything ever. Good record, shit cover.

Opeth needs to play "WHEN" in concert!

Crushing, brutal, full of adrenaline, moving and beautiful all at once.

Thoughts on Metal VS Other Music Genres

Anybody who does not think hip hop can be intelligent and deep beyond MTV should listen to some Sage Francis. His album, Personal Journals, is one of my favorite records of all time. It's up there next to Blackwater Park. Also worth checking out are Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, Fermented Reptile...

Rate Your Overall Deliverance Concert Experience

I voted B. Tapping the Vein sucked horrifically. Paradise Lost followed suit. Opeth were flawless and amazing, but I can't vote an A because the openers were lame. If Lacuna Coil had still made it here, that would have balanced things out to an A. I saw the Irving Plaza, NY show.

so who was at the nyc show tonight??

Dude, I was up on the left balcony with my buddy, and I most definitely noticed this buzzing. It was kind of annoying but didn't detract too much from the beauty that was Opeth's set.

Setlist from EVERY show on the tour!

No, they did not. What IntoObscurity posted is what they played tonight. The Leper Affinity was the opener.

Irving Plaza NYC 1/19 show, ROLLCALL!!!!!!

I'll be there. 6'2" or so white male, very short hair, will be wearing a Metallica "Whever I May Roam" T-shirt and jeans. That's inside. Outdoors you can believe I'll have a bigassed coat of some nature on. Probably my black bubble jacket and grey skullcap. Doubt anyone will recognize me but...
