this is a song that i've recorded with my band a few month ago.

Red Machete - Power Source

we decided to record it all analog, because we wanted to have this old school sound like black sabbath, deep purple or led zeppelin.

i know the sound is a little bit raw compared to the metal productions here in this forum, but give it a try ;)

open the doaaaa !! :-) made me smile, hehe.

well, what did you guys use in particular?
what console?

the whole thing could use a lot more "in your face" quality. i know you guys are going
for a more old school sound, but if you compare to other older rock bands (thinking acdc, not zepplin) even
they create a lot more impact. id a/b more to productions you like and make the whole mix
a lot more aggressive and ear catching. its pretty unexciting at the moment.

a first step would be to bring out more of th eambience on the drumkit, i mostly hear the close miced signals (though im on laptop speakers...) try some 1176LN on nuke setting on the room mics foor example.
then add more high mids to the guitars...

hope that helps! rock on!

I meant, "What was the HARDWARE involved in the recording/mixing of this song?" We've pretty much established who actually did the recording at the first post.

What was the tape deck?
What brand of tape? What tape speed?
What was the mix desk?
Any outboard?
