100 Most Metal moments a crock of shit.

yea, I was kinda dissapointed with the whole "100 metal moments" thing.
I was really REALLY hoping it would be good, so I taped it....
and I remember eventually flipping over to Family guy and Aqua teen hungerforce.

Yep..good times

Half The Guys They Interviewed During The Mayhem And Gorgoroth Segments Didnt Even Seem Like They Knew Who They Were. I Think Scott Ian Was The Only One To Really Know Anything. I Think Mayhem Should Have Been Way Up There. I Guess They Put It On There So High Because They Dont Want To People To Think That Killing People Is Really Metal And Cool. Even Though Its Very Metal But Whatever. I Thought Manowar Was Cool. Shut The Fuck Up. I Like Manowar. Would Of Been Nice To See Some More Probot Because Of King Diamond. Anything With King Diamond Is Cool With Me.

So like, I watched this 100 metal moments yesterday,
and I decided that the little respect I had for VH1 is gone, and this time - for good.

The 100 countdown was sadly enough, yet not surprising at all, mostly about “hard rock” and early heavy metal. I am absolutely not denying the huge contribution to the metal scene, from bands like KISS, Motley Crew, WASP, DIO, and so on…
Hell, I even own all of those band’s CDs.
However, when you have a show on VH1 that allowed itself to take a legitimate name like “100 most metal moments” you do expect a little more of that.
VH1 or not VH1- it SUCKED.
Those old geezers at that rotten station showed their real age with that show. It seems like they have already made up their mind about the “moments” that will be on that show, and then they gave the “new crowd” some crumbs of newer bands.
The big ground-breaking story of Euronymous and the killing in Norway (surely you’ve all heard about that) got number 69.
sixty*fucking*nine! Something that people still talk about nowadays and considered to be one of the biggest turning points for Black Metal got number 69.
But the Porn video tape of Pamela-whats-her-name and Tommy Lee got number 21?
Hello? Does anybody need a major kick in your behind there at VH1?

Another highlight, was mentioning the big story about Gorgoroth in Poland (should you wonder: they had goat heads on stage, naked chicks on crosses, blood everywhere, and the polish police got them arrested and they had to leave the country immediately) Not that im saying this story deserves to be on the top of the list, not at all, Mayhem has done this long before Gorgoroth have had their first beer legally, but to call Gorgoroth “Death Metal” ? who what where?
Yes, they have some death metal *touches* in their music, but its like saying Age Of Sanity is progressive rock. Jesus Christ.
But that wasn’t all bad, the top 20 included highlights in Dio’s Wasp’s and Tommy Lee’s career, things that only if you’re 45 years old and stopped listening to metal 20 years ago, would sound true to you, things that even I, that love those old heavy bands, got sick of hearing and thought: “really? That’s on the top 20?”

But that’s not the worst part. Oh no.
Boys and gals, the worst part of that countdown was the fact that through the whole 100 moments, there was not a single word about Thrash Metal. NOTHING.
One of the most important genre of metal music, the music that started Death metal and extreme metal in general- got ZERO.
The only thing they mentioned about the legendary Motorhead was a dumb story about a kid they invited to their studio that later on got to be a huge metal reviewer for big magazines. Woo-hoo big fucking deal.
What about Motorhead’s contribution to the scene, you morons????
What about the San Francisco scene ??? what about the early metallica?
Testament? The death of Kliff? What about saying a single bloody word about Death Metal ??? Chuck Shuldiner? ANYTHING?

I don’t know why I get so mad about it, after all – its VH1. I shouldn’t expect too much,
But 100 moments without a single word about Thrash Metal just freaks me out.

oh yeah, Peter Steel is fucking disgusting, i wouldnt touch him with a stick.

They had Gorgoroth on the 100 Most Metal Moments, recently... though I'm not sure what number they got. It was about the show in Poland with the ram's blood and crucified folk and whatnot...

edit: see above, also.

edit II: I'd also like to say this is the reason why people think metal is just a bunch of trash. MTV and VH1 are really just talking about Guns n' Roses getting fucked up and trashing a hotel room... so bascially after watching a show like this someone who doesn't know anything about metal is going to think its simply sex, drugs, rock and roll, and being stabbed with a boot-knife.

I Was Expecting The Death Of Cliff, The Death Of Randy Rhoades. Soemthing About The Thrash Movement. You Absolutely Nailed It And Espcially No Chuck What A Fucking Disgrace. R.i.p. To All The Great Metal Guys Who Didnt Get Their Rightful Spot. Dio Deserved To Be On Their But Im Not A Big Dio Fan. Some Of Those Were Almost Repeated I Mean Why Didnt They Just Group Alot Of The Drug And Alcohol Things Together. That Wouldve Saved Room For More Moments.

Would just like to point out that Euronymous did not cook Deads brain, nor wear parts of his skull. I hang on a forum with people who knew them, and that`s an exaggarated story, but they did use the picture of Dead dead as a cover.

I correct what I heard then.

And Karen, thank you for taking my idea and making it so much better. :)
