OK, Bob convinced me to post something:

1 Detachment- Barock Project (These guys can do no wrong)
2 Steven Wilson- To The Bone (Kinda poppy, which is not a problem for me)
3 The Bride Said No- Nad Sylvan (I don't miss Agents Of Mercy)
4 The Optimist- Anathema (Not as samey as the last 2)
5 Grimspound- Big Big Train (No drop in quality)
6 In Contact- Caligula’s Horse (My new favorite from them)
7 Lost In The Ghost Light- Tim Bowness (Doing great without Wilson)
8 Covered In Black- Anubis Gate (Glad I discovered these guys)
9 The Circus Of The Tattered And Torn- Daydream XI (Powerhouse. What a voice)
10 Ghost Mile- Voyager (Another awesome voice)
Honorable mention: Brother Ape- Karma (Glad they're back)

Wow I have all except #9

That was the best prog metal album to come out in 2017 along with Prospekt.

Hmmm...both Prospekt and Daydream XI are on Sensory, what a coincidence! ;)

My top 5 in no particular order:
The Stranger - Self-Titled (incredible debut album)
Witherfall - Nocturnes and Requiems (super excited to see what these guys do next)
Foredoomed - Ordeal (progressive melodeath, not a combo you see very often)
Ne Obliviscaris - Urn (even though this may be my least favorite of their three albums, that just speaks to the quality of their discography so far)
Marty Friedman - Wall of Sound (I wish he would drop the vocal tracks entirely, but still an incredible album)

My top 6-10 in no particular order:
Trivium - The Sin and the Sentence (Shogun is one of my all time favorite albums and this is a great return to form for them, even if a couple tracks are still straight up radio rock)
Prospekt - The Illuminated Sky (not a huge fan of the vocalist at times, but instrumentals make up for it)
Perihelion Ship - To Paint a Bird of Fire (progressive death, lots of mellotron which is interesting)
Adagio - Life (I have some issues with this album but as one of my favorite bands in my early days of prog metal, this was still a strong return and it's nice to have them back after such a long hiatus)
Unleash the Archers - Apex (super fun power-prog, great female vocals which I can be extremely picky about)

2017 was an excellent year for music, for my tastes.

I have to split my list up between metal and prog rock. Sorry, that's how my brain works,,,
