3 years between albums is cruel

Well, if you want them to put out albums faster then forget about touring and all that. MJR and crew know that it takes time to do something "right". Cmon, it's SX! It's not like Metallica where we wait 6 years for a POS to come out that could have taken 1 day to record.

I'm more than happy to wait as long is it takes for SX to be happy with what they are going to give us.

^^
What he said.
(Although I was secretly hoping that it would coincide with the release of the new Star Wars movie).:dopey:

Blind guardian is the worst. 4 year wait and then the drummer quits

If it makes you feel any better, I think the Demons & Wizards album is still on-schedule to be released.

All I am hoping for is a solid album with a little better production quality than "The Odyssey".
I consider The Odyssey to have the best production of any SX album

It is. "Touched by the Crimson King" is gonna come out in early June.

As for Thomen, he has a new band/project called Savage Circus that sounds...well pretty much exactly the same as Tales From the Twilight World era Blind Guardian. It also features Jens Carlsson on vocals, from Persuader, and he's also the singer on my upcoming debut album. He basically sounds like what you'd get if you combined Hansi from Blind Guardian, Piet Sielck from Iron Savior, and Devin Townsend from Strapping Young Lad.

That really depends on what aspect of production you're talking about. If you mean from a technical and equipment standpoint, then absolutely. But if you're talking about human judgment while using said equipment...that was lacking in places, for sure.

I dont think 3 years is too long of a wait. Its better than if they forced an album every few months just to please hungry fans. Besides, im sure they're busy with other things too (tours, solo albums, etc.). Im definately looking forward to some new SX but im not sitting on the edge of my seat or holding my breath or anything.

Yeah the instrument levels were pretty awful, no bass for such a metal album. It was like Romeo playing into a mic with rullo in the next room and pinella outside in the rain. Lepond was on holiday or something

Bingo--exactly.

The mix actually got painful at times...I'd try turning it up to hear Pinnella, and then wind up with a headache from Romeo and Rullo's playing practically beating on my skull. So then I'd turn it back down and it was like Pinnella just wasn't there at all. Just couldn't win... :erk:

3 years... bah! How about Black Sabbath (10 years & counting), Pink Floyd, etc, etc ?

Yeah, Pink Floyd might as well be broken up already, if you ask my opinion. They just don't have the guts to admit it.

I prefer the flawless, perfect mixing and recording The Divine Wings of Tragedy. It is perfectly sang by Sir Allen, perfectly play'd by Mr. Romeo, Mr. Pinnella, Mr. Rullo and Mr. (I can't remember his name now, shoot!). The Eyes of Medusa is the most perfectly performed song in a recording, that I've ever heard. Simply flawless.
