I just did a quick cab shootout. The main aim was not to get the best possible result out of each cab by positioning the mic to the most suitable place.
This is just to show you how big the differences between each cab are although they all are equipped with Celestion vintage 30s.
The Diezel cab originally had 4 Celestion G12 H-100s in it but I swapped two of them for vintage 30s. You can hear the results below.

For each soundfile there is a second version named x_2 where I moved the mic slightly around to get a different sound.

Guitar was a LTD James Hetfield Truckster with EMG 81 into an Engl Road (old but GREAT!). The cabs were miced with a single sm57 on axis.

Have fun!

the Diezel with v30 sounds exactly like my old Engl Pro with v30 (not XXL) and IMO better than the XXL.
the Mesa sounds way better, smoother and more balanced than all of them (most potential), could use a tiny bit more topend though (mic closer to the center?)..yeah, listening again it actually sounds like the position for the Mesa is definitely not the optimum one, it's good for the Diezel though....move the mic more to the center and the Mesa will blow the Diezel out of the water

the H100 is actually quite a disappointment...I'd still like to have two if you wanna get rid of them.

and thanks for the shootout

Wow, fucking awesome dude, thanks so much for doing this! And Mesa rules the roost once again IMO  (Engl XXL is pretty cool though for a different kind of flavor, would want more high mids dialed in on the amp though if possible) G12H100 is kinda cool, I guess, kinda T75-like in the hollowness, but really muffled IMO, Diezel V30 is awful awful fizz-city

Actually, I didn´t pay much attention to mic positioning. It was a 15 minutes set up/recording. Even in the room the Mesa sounded best.
I was a little bit disappointed from the Diezel, too. The v30s in it sound better but still can´t beat the Mesa in my opinion (maybe ´cause they are made in China...:tickled:).
If you want to have the 2 speakers, I still have them here. They are 4 ohm each. Otherwise they will go on ebay the next days.

+1 to all. I like the Mesa best, but the ENGL sounds really good too IMO, but different. Needs different amp settings to it I'd say.

Interesting comparison. I think I prefer the Mesa, sounds the fullest. I also like the Engl XXL, which I also own. Which speaker did you mic on the XXL? Top or bottom? If you used the top one, did you angle the mic accordingly?

i miced the top one (left). didn´t take the time to listen to all of the speakers and decide which sounded best.
the cab is straight so what do you mean by angling?

I'm not entirely sure since I have not spend a lot of time with the cab recently, but if memory serves my correctly, and if my eyes did not mislead me, I don't think it truly is a straight cab. As least to me, it looked like the top speakers are slightly angled, not much, but not straight. At least that how it appaered to be on mine, maybe yours is different. Thanks for the info though!

if you´re still interested in the speakers drop me a line. otherwise they will go on ebay.

my fave is diezel with the g12h's Number 2.
Engl is too scooped
The diezel with v30s is super fizzy
the mesa is the second best at the mo outta those.
ps the first Diezel clip with g12h's sounds like hatebreeds rise of brutality tone.
