Alright picked this sucker up today... So far, so good!

My only problem, is that, and this is why the guitars are only double tracked, and panned hard L/R, only mic pre's 1-2 seemed to work at all, and they are defaulted as L/R, respectively, and hard L/R at that.

Anybody else have this issue? I can't figure out how to change it!

You have a "stereo" group selected as the input. Make sure you are recording two "mono" tracks and you should be able to assign any of the inputs. Also, be aware that the Firepod is grouped in stereo pairs (four groups, each with a left and right) so you just need to keep track of which group your inputs would be (for example the 6th input on the firepod would be #3 Right).

Also, only channels one and two are designed for direct instrument recording. The other 6 are line-levels. Hope that helps

Figured the L/R thing... I was trying to record a mono signal to a stereo track - no wonder it wasn't working.

That said, inputs 3-8 don't work. I don't get it - I figured it would be easier than this, like selected input 3 from the track on Cubase, and record from input 3.

I'm using Cubase SX3, nothing Crippled there.

Again, channels 3-8 are not mic/instrument inputs. They are mic/line inputs, so you might need to adjust more gain if plugging a instrument directly in. Step 1) plug into whatever channel, and adjust the gain on the Firepod until you see the clip light. If that light flashes, then obviously the signal is getting there.

I've tried a PODxt and Mic into them - I realize it's not for plugging an instrument directly in.

I get signal to the Firepod, but not on the computer.

plug the firepod into channels 1 & 2 and your mic into 3. that is how i have mine setup and it works great.

I can get signal from pre's one and two no problem, but I can't even see 3-8 as options for an input on the channels in Nuendo or Cubase - that's my problem.

This isn't a big deal for now, but if I ever want to record drums, I'm pretty SOL with the current config, as I couldn't get all 8 pre's onto their own channel, you know?

Go into vst connexions, input, delete the stereo input then create 8 mono inputs (10 if you need the spdif).
You didn't read the f**king manual did ya?

The first one I had really blew due to me not knowing how to set the Firepods inputs up, so it was all panned hard L/R. A new one will be up tomorrow night (technically tonight), after I get some time to play with it.

buutubtubtutb Brett... prease don't scoff at me :(.

And lock up that FTP site! LOL
