Dusk from Pakistan?

They are a prog metal band. I heard 2 mins worth of samples and prayed to Allah that they would hurry up and join their 144 virgins.

But the sitting in the bathtub pose is quite fucking grim. :loco:

Haha, sounds bad! Although according to the almighty Wikipedia they may have evolved into this faggy prog band, look see:

The originator of the entire metal movement around Pakistan was Dusk. The band consisted of two members, Faraz Anwar on the guitars & Babar Shaikh with the vocals. Dusk initiated in 1995 and mastered in death black metal. "South Asia's heaviest export" by Greek Zine (M.Invader '96), was one of the titles given to these 2 individuals who together made music in its true sense. Casketize, Dusk's first demo tape, released in June 1995, introduced raw/chaotic death black metal to Pakistan for the first time. The second masterpiece, Where Dreams Bleed, was a promo-tape released in the middle months of the year 1996.

LOL @ this discussion. Based on the strong opinions, I'm interested in hearing both, though the Dusk that you like obviously isn't for sale, right Mark? Perhaps I can pick it up for $6 from that vendor though, however, he hasn't emailed me back about my other attempted order yet.

that is correct, the Dusk that *I* enjoy is not for sale. :)

no offense, but that is BY FAR the absolute worst song on the disk. When I first heard it, I was dismayed that I had bought a dud. Luckily, every other song on the album smokes.

Post songs 3 or 4, and see what people say.

You meant the Dusk from Hungary here, not the U.S. right Mark?

Very much so. The [US] Dusk album is basically 12 songs that all sound near-identical to each other, and since I now seemingly have to justify and disclaim every single statement, I'll add TO MY EARS.

From those samples, neither band is ANYWHERE near the top of their game. For fucks sakes, whoever allowed the kick drum sound on Dusk (USA) to be pressed onto plastic should be shot.

That might be a little harsh, but some half-baked atmospherics aside, that was nothing close to what I was expecting from Erik, etc's words.

Ah memories of the Dusk debate. :tickled:

From page 4 onwards....Jason, the eternal diplomat.

Almost each Dusk post was a Mystery Post. Shame Erik deleted his posts to kill the momentum *shakes fist towards Sweden*

Dusk (US) is excellent. I have one Dusk (Hun) disc, Carpathian Darkness, and while I was thoroughly impressed with it (I believe this is due to the fact that they're from Hungary and finding a non-shitty band from Hungary (since I'm Hungarian) is very rare, I initially found it to be much better than it actually is. It's okay, and I probably will listen to it again at some point, but it's probably not needed. I do remember Erik thoroughly berating me for liking Dusk (Hun) though.

Actually they're Black Metal and sound nothing like Opeth. :zombie: Maybe you're thinking of the US one?
