havent plugged my 6505+ in for a bit and it seems to have picked up a problem. whenever i turn the gain past about 5 it instantly starts squealing loudly, is this just a bad preamp tube?

most likely. at least that was my problem some time ago with my peavey ultra 410 full tube combo. good luck!
