What are your thoughts on classic 1970s Aerosmith? Sure, they're a joke now, but they rocked in the 70s!

Their version of "Train Kept a Rollin'" just KILLS!
Their first 4 records are classics....waaay before they sold out!

"Lord of the Thighs", "Seasons of Wither", ALL of the ROCKS album!

They kicked major ass in the '70's and parts of the 80's! Everything from the debut to Draw The Line and from Done With Mirrors to Pump, i like. Everything after that is a pure waste of time and should never have seen the light of day.

ROCKS is in my top 10 or 20 albums of all time. I love 'em. And I do love HOnkin' on Bobo! It's back to basics and what Tyler/Perry do best. My favorite Aerosmith song ever is "Sick As A Dog". It just has that swagger that a lot of rock bands missed...GNR had it on Appetite. Just balls to the wall rock!

Good question. I really like

"Toys in the Attic" [1975]

"Rocks" [1976]

"Draw the Line" [1977]

"Live Bootleg" [1978]

Especially the last two are fantastic.
They are classics! The live album is an absolute
must! One of the best live albums ever!

First 4 albums and fucking awesome..."Kings and Queens" is probably one of my favorite songs. They definitely suck ass now and are very cheesy, but back in the 70's they wrote some awesome rock songs...there's a lot to be said about the creativity that spawns from pain, misery and drug abuse, as opposed to the creativity that comes when you are rich, comfortable and basically worry-free. Maynard Keenan from TOOL made a pretty interesting comment about that in an interview - he basically said that now that TOOL had become popular and they were financially secure, when he would start writing, he would immerse himself in environments where he was truly uncomfortable and miserable, and his writing would reflect that and be much more dark and had more substance...as opposed to having everything you want and need at your fingertips...

That's my 2 cents...

Love the 70's and mid 80's stuff. But the newer cookiecutter stuff sucks ass. I've heard that the new release is good but I could care less about them now after the last 15 years.
