To be fair, it could have it's uses. Maybe it could be useful to drummers who can't write on guitar but need something to put their grooves to. Is it really all that different to us guitarists using pre-made midi loops for drums?

WRONG. More gain = more broots, obviously But to be fair they're played by John Browne of Monuments and Fellsilent (who were one of the first actual 'djent' bands) and Jan Hoeglund, so the 'played by some of the leading Progressive Metal (aka Djent)' bit is fairly accurate.
