A Brutally Honest Question...

That's Cancer Bats, on the bottom right, next to Attack! Attack! (and rightfully so, because that concert is just comprised of one shitty band after another)

TFM is exactly what I wanted more of from UTP, that album is what exactly what it was named to be! NMF was mediocre for the most, though.

does the new album suck cock because

a. the guitar tone is good
b. they play a lot better on it
c. they have a above average drummer now
d. it sounds like morbid angel most of the time

just wondering

Srsly.

I can't understand why anyone thinks any Bloodbath release is shit. It's fucking brutal death metal...after a while they all start to sound the same, just the time signatures and tempos become different. Death metal isn't exactly the widest genre out there...I guess that coincides with many death metallers' mindset. Bloodbath is fucking great. They've got catchy songs and they aren't worried about showing everyone how much better they are as musicians than you.

Oh and I'd like to add Musk Ox to my list of Canadian bands.

none of those things make a difference. my reasons; the songwriting is totally unfluent and start stoppish, zero good riffs, bland uninspired vocals not at all up to Mike's usual standards, really bad renkse songs with over modern guitar parts.. just seems rushed and more for the melodeath/behemothgojirameshuggaopethish crowd than actually death metal. it's not at all about being tr00 or anything, I loved UTP ffs.

Besides Hades Rising, there are zero (0) melodeath parts in any of the songs on the new album. It's just relentless brutality no questions asked. You're telling me you can't find catchiness in the riffs from songs like Mock the Cross or Devouring the Feeble? Even At the Behest of their Death the starter track, it just kicks in and I could loop that and jam for HOURS on end.

Thanks, you saved me a post.
The only track I dug was the first one. Rest bored me to tears.

I haven't complained about melodeath really? I liked the groovy and melodic parts of Bloodbath when it was quality oldschool stuff and Swanö (well, Renkse did good before also) writing them. Where I found many awesome fluent, catchy tremolo riffs on UTP (in a modern environment as well) much of the stuff on TFM is just bland and goes nowhere. Mock The Cross doesn't do much for me since the Morbid Angel track that sounds the same is better, but it's okay I guess :p Most of the stuff is just boring really, except Slaughtering The Will To Live and Devouring The Feeble which is really bad. Totally riffless overgroovy crap that even has a lot of Pantera twang in there. That stuff could work in the right environmetn but when you're claming to be the "OMG DEATH METAL ELITE BEST EVAH!" project you do have a lot more to prove.

You know, those are all the reasons I don't like new Bloodbath.

The first EP was them paying tribute to their idols. Resurrection was the sound of badass pros drinking booze and having a freaking BLAST in the studio making absurdly brutal music.

Then they tried to sound like an actual band?

Booooring
.

I'd rather listen to Domination any day.

I agree totally. But until MA get back in the studio and maybe record something that good again, this is all I got, since I really don't like all those "we try intentionally to sound like we recorded this in 1992" bands.

and Hail of Bullets...I like them too.
