A friend's mix needs input.

A friend of mine has been struggling a lot with his mixes, he's basically spent a whole year trying to record a 6 song EP but hasn't been getting good results. I have taught him what I know and gave my opinion many times, but his mixes never seem to improve. He has an account on here, but right now he has no internet so he asked me to post this here, and would be grateful to hear some of your opinions on what to fix.

First off, the guitars aren't great. They sound really small, boxy and undergained. The playing sounds like it's a bit off too. The drums are pretty quiet, and the snare is way too wide and whoofy/splatty. The vocal stutter in the beginning sounds weird.
