A New Earth!

Dude. Even my 5 year old sister knows that. It's close in COSMIC terms. For fuck's sake, it's only five times farther away than the closest star to earth. That's something. Because it means that if we'll EVER be able to reach the closest star, then THAT one is also within our reach. That's what it means. Don't judge distance by our own current technology.
Aye, I know. I am not shocked by the distance either- and what I meant by 50 years was being able to try and survive on the planet, regarding that we are ready and have learnt that that specific planet can sustain our lifeforms. If we go together like a puzzle, if those so called extraterrestrials are like our missing link or a superior version of ourselves, maybe they do not wish to be found. It said there is a greater amount of radiation, so I'd assume that if any life is there it has grown to adapt to such measures, and we initially would not be able to physically cope without protection. I know we will reach it, yet I simply do not care for the fate of the human race after my death, good luck and all- but I would've moved on and it'd not be necessary to dwell over what I once lived with.

with all the secrets our government is hiding from us, I wouldn't be surprised if we could get there in a few minutes.

Yeah, yet as a government conspiracy, it would not be revealed to the general public, only a chosen few, and as usual we would question their right to hold the fate of humanity in their hands, and others would accept seemingly that we are not worthy to question our superiors, but since when did rank and order relate to celestial discovery?

Actually, that much is some speculation I'd rather not think about :p

As I said. All we know is that it has close-to-earth gravity and close-to-earth temperatures. In the future we'll know more, and then if there is actually a chance that the planet has life, intelligent or not, then I'll be thrilled. I'm saving my enthusiasm until then.

And btw, y'all should google "bukhard heim". If that dudes theories are correct, interstellar travel in one lifetime could be a reality not far from our time. But again, speculation.

that's pretty wild. I say stop the stupid war who cares what the middle east does with itself, put our money towards feeding clothing and educating the unfortunate in our country and others, then lets make huge space ships and blast off towards this planet to check it out. even if it sounds like the planet was once more stable for life way way back when the sun was hotter, it would be cool to find artifacts and remains hopefully.

if only faster-than-light travel was a practical reality...

ahh pipedreams.
