So yeh, at least once in every 2 weeks I'd get this sudden flow of white noise generating through the session. It would just happen out of the blue. One moment I'm scrutinizing the mix, the next moment I've got my ears covered in horror. It was pretty rare and easy to get over with. All I'd have to do was restart Pro Tools and it would be gone. Once in every 2-3weeks was tolerable enough. But the last time it happened (a few hours back), the tweeter on the left channel died on me. ARGHHHHH! :erk:

outch, that sucks....
luckily my 0roo have limiters built in.....would make me cry if something happened to them.

Dude with my old computer i used to get them like every 30 min with protools 7.4. I remember tracking singers and having there headphones cranked, then this blast of white noise and there swatting the headphones off. I felt so embarrassed and was furious at Digidesign about it. It happened to me when i upgraded from 7.0 to 7.4 some time ago. Search the duc forums for "aggravating white noise" i think was the thread. Good luck as the only thing that fixed mine was a whole new computer. :Smug:

that's happened to me when loading a session a few times.
Sooo loud and soooo annoying:yuk:

I also used to get these once in a while, but suddenly they stopped... I have no idea what fixed it. Maybe an osx update? A couple of times I was wearing headphones when these bursts happened and it left my ears ringing for days. I also complained to Digidesign about this.

This happens to me constantly... PT LE 7.4... and my laptop is on Digidesign's "Supported Workstation List"... Can't say it was ever so bad as to blow my Monitors.. but I definitely know what it's like to have to apologize to people I'm tracking when that shit blasts through their headphones.

I'm gonna check if their is a CS update that includes a fix for it now that I know it's not just me.

EDIT: This only happens to me at the start of play back. Never in the middle of a playback. May be different.

Wow, the same thing happened to a friend of mine and when he told me about it, I told him I thought he was crazy. I stand corrected.

Gawd, Digidesign rocks SO HARD!!!

And FWIW, I've never had that problem with my MBOX2, but then again, the thing gets most of its use as a bookend

I once had a cymbal end up on a vocal track when the white noise happened when tracking. It was crazy and you should have seen the clients face when this happened. Mine looks the same, something along these lines :OMG:

I feel your pain. My monitors flat out died this weekend doing a playback for a band during guitar tracking. Poof. Gone. I've replaced the fuses twice, and they blow as soon as I turn them on.

Called M-Audio yesterday to see about repair. Sat on hold for an hour, then hung up. Submitted an online support request as soon as I hung up, 24+ hours later and I haven't heard squat.

I had this happen recently for the first time, but it was only when I was running my PLAY EastWest Symphonic Choirs with the standalone Wordbuilder software... I haven't experienced the issue otherwise.

I've had crazy stuff like that happen too. Literally, like voices and drum artifatcts in a stereo bounce of a guitar file. NO IDEA how they got there, it was all one waveform. weird shit. I was kind of freaking out trying to find out where it was coming from.

This happens to me a lot in adobe audition. I have to restart the program/session everytime. It just automatically plays me white noise when i click play on everyfile. Pain in the ass as sometimes it locks up the damn program too.
