Windows 7. Pro tools 9

No Care Ever
Why doesn't task manager close out pro tools 9 on windows 7? From time to time, pro tools will crash(usually only when i'm using the East West Play engine). Once it crashes, pro tools is still in my "process" tab of task manager even though the program is closed out of my "applications" tab.
With pro tools 8, i could just select "end task" and it would close it out of my system processes, allowing me to open pro tools right back up. Now i have to reboot my computer any time i crash in order to run pro tools again.

it's very annoying and a waste of time when i'm trying to load a session that keeps crashing on me due to 1 plugin.

That sounds like a driver or some piece of security/software registration software stuck that refuses to kill the parent thread. Those are really the only thing that preempt a call to kill the process. Run Process Explorer and see if it gives you any more info on complicit processes.
