Sheffield, United Kingdom.
Since Evile have officially released Darkness Shall bring Death and Sacrificial, will we be hearing the songs in the live set? I know you've played them live before (don't say you haven't, I has proof old beans!!!) so is there any chance of them being played on the April tour?

:)

SEX!!!

I just feel that since the redux came out it might be a nice addition to the setlist. Not to mention that everyone has heard the same ten songs over and over for the last year and a half

True,

but that's what you get being a 'new' band. This tour will be the last time you hear a lot of Grave material live so make the most of it.

Ahh, very true. I didn't think of it that way...

In all honesty though - and I mean this in the nicest way possible - there are only about five songs from Enter the Grave that every Evile fan wants to hear live. The rest are brilliant, but only certain people cite them as favourites. I guess thats the good thing about opinions haha.

I noticed you stopped playing Killer from the Deep at a lot of recent shows too. After playing that song for about five years I don't blame you, Mike was so pissed after the Sheffield soundcheck on the Exodus tour  'I'M FUCKING SICK OF THESE FUCKING SONGS!!'

Exactly. There's "better" and "worse" songs on Grave, but I don't think it's a bad album. We just, could have put a lot more time/thought into some aspects of the songs, but that's where we were at the time.

When the 2nd album comes out we'll naturally have to drop songs from the set anyway. Can't wait to show the world (ie, 24 people living in it) our 2nd album!!

well I cant wait to see/hear it, as for ETG its your first album is bound not to be perfectly and im sure your future albums will get better and be at where you want to be

Aye but Enter the Grave was your first and if I do say so myself, its a fucking good debut. Judging by the two dmeos on the redux, you're looking at a winner - DSBD almost had a death thrash feel to it, minus Matt's vocals.

Just don't do a Sepultura and start tuning to drop A and using Berimbaus and african congas

thought this would be an appropriate time to write my thoughts on stuff in this thread...

listened to DSBD yesterday after a VERY long time of not hearing it, and you never notice these things at the time but i didnt realise how much i didn't know about singing, i was just shouting and running out of breath.... then i listened to ETG and realised again that i really couldnt sing at that time. at all. since then ive taught myself how to sing, so thats just another ingredient that can be added to the new stuff...

but dont worry im not talking about lovely melody singing, just a more natural less forced sound that my voice naturally does. when we recorded ETG i didnt know how to sing properly so i was pushing my voice to sound growly and deep, and ended up doing some bad damage, so ive learnt how to do it properly, but in doing so found out my natural singing voice isnt THAT deep and growly, it still is a bit deep and growly, but more natural and listenable. hope that explains it. i cant do deathy stuff, just cant.

really cant wait for people to be hearing the new stuff later in the year, looking forward to hearing what people think of what we learnt and improved/changed/got rid of (and theres a lot of stuff we've changed and got rid of) from doing ETG... we've been writing with different influences here and there and completely ignoring others and we're getting closer to what we feel evile should be.

i had a whole paragraph planned for this bit but i probably would have said some controversial stuff that now isnt the right time for really.... SO...

best way i can describe it is we aren't going old school, yet we aren't going modern, we're going completely our own way in a bizarre direction taking some of our influences with us and leaving a lot of them behind and picking up different ones on the way. its interesting. all i'm saying is don't expect the exact same album from us second time around. some fans might not like that and we'll find out when its released if thats a problem i guess, but as a metal fan, listening to what we've been writing i think you'll all be extremely pleasantly surprised.

I think ETG is a greatfirst album for a thrash band. Its exactly what it should be: a fast continuous slap in the face. It has a lot of catchy rythms, the vocals were aggresive, the solos insane.

And so far all you have said about the second installment in Evile´s saga, sounds good to me, you´re evolving and thats good, as long as you dont try to change your style completely. Im sure its gonna sound really fresh and the writing is gonna be better.

Three words: Cant fuckin wait!

I'm really looking forward to the new Evile...I'm hoping for a little more variation in the songs, more "dynamic" - (more Testament style (less Slayer))...but I really hope all the thrash and SPEED elements are there!
When are you planning to enter the studio?

As I mentioned before, I think Evile have the potential to be a prorgressive detah-thrash style band, minus the traditional D-T vocals. Its evident in all the material released so far (I blame Ol's love for Obituary and Morbid Angel) but its not quite D-T because of the vocals. Thats not a bad way to put it, but if it could be progressed and refined a bit, maybe take a lef from Coroner's book and throw in some odd time signatures and insane tempo changes, then Evile would win the world.

... Yeah, rant over. Matt got me all excited now.
