England bowed out of Euro 2004 in Portugal last night based on a perfect goal being disallowed by the referee (even though the secondary referee linesman allowed it).

The ref was Swiss.

England had just beaten Switzerland 3-0.

Enough said.

CUNT.

The goal would have been allowed in the Uk championship . Not there , that's an injustice but there's always (see Venus Williams vs Sprem at Wimbeldon , they made a big mistake in the last tie-break , giving a fake point to Sprem , no one noticed)

I wouldn't get too upset about it, it's not like it's baseball or football.

It is Football, you dirty yank! :loco:

NOTE: I just refer to the single Swiss referee, not all of Switzerland.

P.S. @ NAD: Al Capone was Swiss?

P.P.S. @ NAD: You forgot a picture of "Cold Lake". :loco:

P.P.P.S. I have never heard "Cold Lake" in my life.

I actually tried 3 times to write a coherent reply, but quickly realized I know dick about soccer. Then my extent of the Swiss was quickly exhausted, so I guess I'm done here.

Swiss bank accounts = Capone et. al. I tried to find a picture of a mobster holding some cash, but failed. :tickled:

I hate when referees/umpires decide a game with a bunk call instead of letting the players play. That is why instant replay should be included into every sport.

Still, soccer.....hahaha

Isn't that pretty boy Beckham dude on England's team?

Instant Replay should be in every sport - I couldn't agree more. This was an even worse decision because the linesman ref (one on each side of the pitch) ALLOWED the goal, and then the ref just decided to overrule.

Soccer = BIGGEST sport in the world

Yeah, Beckham is the English captain. He had a duff game, but otherwise he's making his millions. Richest sports personality in history, now beating Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan in endorsement payouts etc.

I love the NFL's current instant replay policy, only allowing so many per half and setting a 90 second time limit on them. I remember ten years ago instant replays would take half an hour sometimes.

Bad calls will be made, nobody is perfect. But the real blatant ones like this one apparently was (I didn't see it, I've watched a total of about 2 football matches in my life), that sucks balls.

Every sport should adopt the NFL's instant replay policy: only a couple a game for each team, and with a time limit.

But umpires/referees unions will always fight because it opens them up for scrutiny, especially in baseball where the players union (why exactly does this exist again?) and the umpires union pretty much hate eachother.

hehe, that's because half the countries that play soccer can't afford equipment for the other sports. :dopey:
Heh, not only that, but it wouldn't work for TV in the USA. 45 minutes non-stop play (per half) without a TV commercial break? You gotta be shittin' me.

dude, I would love non-stop play. I'd rathr see baseball players preparing for the next inning than lame-ass hemaroid cream or athletes foot commercials.

Short attention span theatre, same reason why Shitney Speares is a billionaire.
