hey chris or any one

i wanted to know about the peavey 6505 head.i am meaning to buy one and it is really expensive.so i want to make shure that its the right one.

i heard that it has a very good heavy distortion in it and it reacts well to other distortion pedals.any advice on this or recomendations of other heads

thanks

in all honesty, when it comes to heads and stuff you really want to look at the clean channel first. I am an effects pedal greak ( i have 7 pedals and am looking for more) and i look for a clean channel to mix my pedals with. you will almost never layer distortion over distortion. it really messes with the harmonics and tone and wont sound good at all. i would reccomend looking at some lesser Randall heads or a line 6 head.

Buying an amp for how it's distortion sounds based upon how the clean channel sounds is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. The guy is looking at a 6505 to play through HEAVY DISTORTION! Don't take advice from someone that can't even spell "Guitarist".

The 6505 is badass, but yeah, it's expensive. I recommend you also check out the 5150, which you can find used nowadays for great prices. The 5150 will save you some cash and still give you some gnarly distortion. I don't think you'll be disappointed with either amp, except for the fact that you just wasted money buying a distortion pedal on an amp that doesn't need one. ;)
