No, not the company. ;)

I've got something of a weird question. When listening to a musician, are there times you think that a foreign accent actually makes them sound better/more interesting? Or times when it detracts? What makes you feel that way?

Given the number of foreign metal vocalists, I figured this would be interesting.

Hahaha Timo Kotipelto makes me laugh and the accents that some German Power Metal vocalists makes me roll around in laughter, but of course there are really nice ones like Daniel Gildenlow, Tom Englund and Tony Kakko that are just awesome.

i like Polish accents, also Icelandic and some Swedish. this is assuming english lyrics. lyrics in other languages i like even more, when the accent comes full on \m/

it adds a new element to the sound, like the eternal search for tone.

I think singers with accents are awesome if it fits the style of the band. It can really make the atmosphere authentic.

God, I love Rhapsody.

Personally, I think an accent can be very interesting, attractive, and even add to the melodic feel of a vocal line.

I actually liked Timo Kotipelto's accent a lot when I heard him sing on "Out of the White Hole"...I don't know why, but the way he pronounced words was very beautiful to listen to even if sometimes completely incorrect.

Another strange case...I heard Samael's album Reign of Light tonight, and while their vocalist has a very unmusical voice, his accent actually seems to put something melodic back into it, whether he means it to, or not. And I found it added something to the album. True, you can't understand half of it without the lyrics sheet, but I don't mind.

One case, though, of an accent (unfortunately) backfiring on somebody was Mikael Akerfeldt on Orchid. That last line on "Apostle in Triumph", OUCH, what was THAT?! Now, I do commend him for improving dramatically even with the next album...but that was a moment that truly did make me wince.
