Achtung: Depressive BM ahead

You're probably too opinionated anyway, but here we go: Too Late

I mean, no doubt "Brave Murder Day" is a great record, but... depressive?! :err:
Hah! Too opinionated, you should know I probably listen to most of the metal you like as well, I just happen to think that BMD is the best album ever written (except on some days, it's "Pale Folklore" instead.) Yes, it's depressing. It's so sad I barely ever listen to it, because just listening to "Brave" totally ruins my mood for the rest of the day and makes me want to jump off a fucking building or something. It's scary how much of an impact that album has... Any of the so-called "suicidal BM" bands or indeed any funeral doom band can only DREAM of creating that sort of infinite sadness.

Oh, and thanks for the upload :D

IotS: Um, I still listen to the old, classic stuff, but as you might have noticed if you paid attention to anything I wrote on the forums for the last year or so, I'm much more into doom, thrash, trad metal, girly stuff like Empyrium and Anathema nowadays. I don't care much about new BM releases.

True actually.

It might be one of the 10 best albums ever, but it's not really depressing per se. The only Skepticism track to make me want to SLIT MY WRISTS IT'S EASIER THAN IT SEEMS BUT IN DEATH YOU'LL KNOW DISHEARTENMENT FUCKING WINS is "March and the Stream", L&E version. "Stormcrowfleet" is just beautiful.

Once again, Crimson Velvet completely wins at being right concerning music. :)

EDIT: Except I reckon "Brave" is the strongest track, but it doesn't really matter since the album is to be taken as a whole

And that's exactly the thing with "Brave Murder Day". The ENTIRE album is just heart-wrenching. I mean, many bands have one or two single tracks that almost matches them in sadness and shit (Lethe, Fade to Black, etc,), but no one has managed an entire album.

As for the genre at hand, Abyssic Hate is all I need.

I agree! Suicidal Emotions is fantastic. That and "Geliebte des Regens" by Nargaroth are the my two favourite releases in that style.

What's the deal with Abyssic Hate, will he ever release anything else again?

Although Medication has already been delayed a few years, the recording will done. I guess he's not had much time on his hands due to work or something. To be honest, I'm not holding high hopes for it.

Now you have made me all keen to give it another listen... it'll have to wait though, Hate Forest stays on. Plus I am at work and don't have it...

Is it really that good?...

...and they did it on back to back albums as well, Discouraged Ones is the essence of sadness from first note to last, and I find it to be more depressing than BMD.
