AAA: contenuto altamente tamarro!

Benché inserito a forza fra gli scaffali del metal & hard, Trance’n’Dance di questo genere ha solo un paio di elementi: chitarre distorte e saltuari intermezzi in screaming. Per il resto, il disco è totalmente estraneo al mondo dei duri e puri, trattandosi di un concentrato di EBM abbastanza orecchiabile e danzereccio, benché dalle atmosfere assai tetre ed oscure.

Premesso quindi che chiunque sia un fan del true norwegian black metal sarà tentato di incendiare senza esitazione la confezione ed il CD dopo le prime tre note, la proposta dei francesi Ad Inferna, condita da una certa attitudine gothic e indurita dalla presenza di riff compatti e rocciosi (benché ovviamente semplicissimi), risulta a ben guardare di ottima qualità. Ad uno sguardo superficiale lo strano mix di dark e dance può sembrare un’autentica eresia ma il gruppo ci sa decisamente fare, mescolando queste sonorità con una naturalezza che in molti altri casi risulta irraggiungibile. Metamorphose e Suicide Girl sono tracce emblematiche, ma un po’ tutto il disco è abbastanza coinvolgente e ben concepito.

Ciò detto, questi sette pezzi originali più una cover e quattro remix sono un po’ pochino per conferire al gruppo un voto più alto della sufficienza. Speriamo che con la prossima uscita gli Ad Inferna ci consegnino qualcosa di più.

1- For the first question will be - do you know the netherland?
Vva: Yes, we have recorded our first album at Rotterdam, in the Excess Studio during one month in 2001. Since this date, we have never been back, probably it will arrived for a show ;-)

2- Do you follow the electronic music scene, do you have any other favourite bands?
Vva: Yes, I’m listening only to electronic music: actually, the bands or project I prefer are SAM, Soman, Colony 5, In Strict Confidence, Camouflage, De/Vision, Mesh, Reaper, Frozen Plasma… and Wizzy Noise.

3- Greetings VoA and Vva could you please shortly introduce our readers your music project Ad Inferna Please fill also a biographical resume about how,when and where...give us a more background information?
VoA: the most boring question is for me! But yes, with pleasure man: Ad Inferna is born in 1998 with L’Empire des Sens, released by a german label called Last Episode then undersigned by Silverdust later. This album had received a lot of good feedbacks, and did permit us to get a kind of respect. During this period, we played a kind of symphonic black metal with a bit of electronics stuffs inside like keyboards and samples. Our main goal was to catch the biggest label and to prove to France that a band is able to grow in a respecting way. We got a rather good success with this album and we made a very long break of 7 years before we decided to start up a new brand album. Our influences had evolved and we did want to mix everything we had on the head. Then, was born TranceNdance, our last album, a kind of tribute to everything we composed, listened and wanted to play during the 7 years of silence. I was during the composition of TnD, able to express everything I wanted, and it was a real pleasure to combine electronic stuffs and some other elements from our past. We found a deal with an Italian music group called Aural Music, and TnD has been released last September. We have got every kind of feedbacks human being could imagine lol, but afterward, we are more than satisfied about this album… last point, Soulfood has planned the German release date of Trance :N: dance the 14th of january 2010.

4- How did you start to make Electronica / Industrial / Gothic and what is Gothic for you?
Vva : Gothic for me, that’s the Sisters of Mercy & the Fields of the Nephilim.

5- What and who are some of your influences in Electronica / Industrial / Gothic?
VoA: We are all influenced by the music we love and we listened, so if it’s also true for me, I love and listen bands like VAC, MIAB, Frontline Assembly, Juno Reactor…Probably….

6- What are your top ten favorite Electronica / Industrial / Gothic Club Songs of all time? Who are you influenced by? What would you consider your favorite cd's?

7- Do you have a favourite track and album?
Vva: no I like so many bands … Why do I have to choose between Alice in chains, Das Ich or Diorama ? That’s so great to listen to all of that;-)

8- So tell me a bit more about yourself, such as musical?
Vva: It’s hard to explain. I think the better way to understand me is to read the lyrics I’ve written. I’m probably as mad as the words I say !

9- By the way do you like my questions? tell me what you think about it! ;-)
VoA: A bit too general for my taste, but well, we have to begin by something huh?


10- What is the main idea, the message you want to leave to people who listens to you? What is your motto?
Vva: think by yourself, you’re not the only one suffering, get rid of his own demons , reject this capitalist world to concentrate on the real things, fighting for the animal rights, … but whatever you do everything you can, the end will be the same.

11- What’s the name of your band? What’s the origin of that name? Have you changed the band’s name before?
VoA: Ad Inferna. Ad=Hell, Inferna=hell. lol


12- "Trance:Nance" where did the concept come from? and whats planned now that your album is finished? or anything else you're working on? Tell me why this title,Trance:Nance" Tell us a few words about the concept of this?
VoA: We are actually working on our next opus with Vasi Vallis (Frozen Plasma, Reaper) as producer. More infos soon! We are as well finalizing an extra album of remixs. Everything will be announced very soon.

13- When's the new album coming out?
VoA: I guess over March / April 2010
14-How is the current promotional tour going for supporting this album?
VoA: we haven’t begun any kind of tour yet, don’t have the time between all those productions we have to released. But for the next one, we’ll appear on some festivals.

15- What do you think of a modern Gothic and about Electronica / Industrial / Gothic scene?
VoA: some very talented new bands, and some shitty ones lol

16- Our usual question - what is Music for you?
VoA: Life

17- What was your best live experience so far?
VoA: In 2000 in Switzerland, it was full of people and no one at security! Unbelievable but amazing!

19-What are your views on the current state of this Electronica / Industrial / Gothic scene in Bordeaux, Aquitaine Frankrijk in terms of creativity and audiences? And the scene in other countries?
VoA: We don’t have ANY relations there, and we don’t really know what’s happened.

Vva : It seems to be strange but all our friends playing in band are from Germany, Greece, Sweden, Netherlands, UK, US… but not a lot from our own country!

20- you have very nice numbers`.............. tell me about lyrical compositions what you can tell about the done work? How does your music creation process work? How do you create a song?
VoA: I generally work on an idea and made it growing. I used to compose some guitar riffs before, but since TnD I only compose on keyboards, even if I have to add guitars afterward.

Vva: when Orias is giving me the music is created, all becomes logic... I simply have to write what I feel : we always do like that !

21-What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Who are your major influences?
VoA: A-ha, Depeche Mode and Pink Floyd are our roots.

Vva : we’re creating “a music terribly sad for the tortured hearts, mind & souls”

22-Since the music industry is more open now to purely electronic music has this made things easier for you?
VoA: not really since TnD is not a 100% electronic album. But to answer correctly to your question, it’s not easier for bands, but more difficult at the contrary. Electronic music is easier and faster to compose than progressive metal for example. So, there are more bands, more music to listen, and more shits releasing.

23-So what are their main influences as a band at the moment?
VoA: Ad Inferna?

Vva : our next album… he’s for me an amazing piece of madness & sensibility.. like if someone or something has done this music, this words instead of us taking possession of ourselves.

24-What is currently inspiring your material as an artist? tell me all about the Electronica / Industrial / Gothic scene of Bordeaux, Aquitaine Frankrijk ?
VoA: Alzheimer? lol

25-Do you think that people from the music press didn't expect you to grow up musically?
VoA: why may they think such a thing? It’s always the same, some people like you and believe in you, and some other ones don’t even listen and write you play shit…

Vva: the feed backs are awesome! we don’t expect some much good things about “Trance :N: dance”.

26-what is the key to making music from Ad Inferna and what inspires you to keep growing as a musician?
VoA: Sorry I must go lol

27-How do you see the future of download / Copyright in area of goth-Electronica / Industrial / Gothic music ? What are the best ways to develop it in your mind ?
VoA: Good question! Well, a very very very hard subject. Some bands are fighting against illegal downloads everyday, and some other ones are uploading their stuffs on piracy websites…. I think it depending on how many times and money you spent on making your album. A lot of bands are creating and composing and recording an album in one week without any professional ways. Those bands are the first to upload their album and spreading the piracy websites. Thrust me, if you spend one year to make an album, if you go to a real studio to make the mix / mastering of your music, you really don’t want that people find and download your stuff for free. It’s unbelievable! We are not stopping to fight again those behaviors. But what do you wanna do, nowadays, MP3 are far stronger than CDs, and everyone would prefer a song under MP3 format than burn a CD-R…. it’s not a joke!
28-If there was one thing you want people to know about your band what would that be?
VoA: Please don’t download our albums, we put sometimes free high quality files for downloading. If you still want to listen some good music, let’s buy back CDs instead of downloading its. Thanx.

29-Please let us know about your upcoming plans, some new releases you like to confirm here
VoA: We can’t say nothing more than we are working on two upcoming productions actually, it’s too soon.

Vva : I can just say that our new tracks will be kick ass dark klub bombs… Evil & so dancing !

VoA: We hope to see you all soon during gothic festivals.

首先不要被专辑名迷惑，Ad Inferna是一只正统的比利时带有浓厚电子风格的工业金属乐队，他们的这张专辑和Trance一点关系都没有。也许在听到他们第一首歌的时候，更多人会第一时间想到Rammstein战车的风格。作为和德国毗邻的比利时，就算在工业风格上也多少拥有德国工业的影子，像专辑SM For SM这样主打曲目，都足以看出像德国学习的影子。

9首创作作品，和4首混音作品拼搭出的这张专辑，电子风味十分浓厚，EBM的节拍鲜明，却少了一些强硬的音色。PS：比利时语和德语唱起来真的很像.......

AD INFERNA besteht aus den drei Mitgliedern V. Orias A., VV Arkames & V.N.A. Das Debüt-Album L'Empire des Sens wurde 2002 veröffentlicht und seit 2009 mit dem Album Trance: N: Dance International recht erfolgreich. Das Album beinhaltet insgesamt 12 Titel, darunter Remixe von Bands wie Reaper, Soman, Combichrist und Beborn Beton. Franzosen, wieder mal. AD INFERNA haben vor mittlerweile sieben Jahren eine sinfonische Black Metal-Scheibe namens "L'Empire des Sens" veröffentlicht und sich danach wohl gedacht "Ach komm, wat soll dit halbgare Jeorgel - lass' den Freaks ma feisten Beat vorn Latz haun!" - Das soeben in Deutschland veröffentlichte Album "Trance:Nance" hat mit Black Metal folgerichtig nichts mehr zu tun und widmet sich stattdessen einer angenehm pumpenden Mixtur aus EBM und Gothic Metal - mal schauen, ob die Puppen tanzen.

Der Auftakt ist recht ungewöhnlich, denn mit "Fade To Grey" liefert man zunächst eine knackige Coverversion, die sich vom Original nur hinsichtlich der französischen Textfragmente unterscheidet und eine geradezu ideale Vorbereitung auf Kommendes ist. Die gegen Ende eingeführten Krächzer weisen dann den Pfad, der auf den kommenden Eigenkompositionen beschritten werden wird: Härtetechnisch bei neueren HOCICO zu verortender Synth-EBM trifft auf basische Gitarrenriffs und sexy weiblichen Hintergrundgesang, während die männliche Hauptstimme zwischen maschineller Rezitation und etwas raueren Akzenten pendelt. Das alles wird mit pluckernden Beats abgeschmeckt, die je nach persönlicher Vorliebe unaufdringlich bis stumpf wahrgenommen werden dürften, den insgesamt sehr harmonischen Kompositionen jedoch nie ein allzu strenges Korsett aufzwingen.
Überhaupt fällt auf, dass AD INFERNA ihre "neuen" Instrumente beherrschen, was aufgrund der metallischen Herkunft nicht unbedingt selbstverständlich ist. Gerade der Synth-Bereich kommt vergleichsweise vielfältig und filigran daher und braucht sich selbst vor genuinen Elektronikern keineswegs zu verstecken - wir reden also von einem Level weit jenseits von DEATHSTARS und ähnlichen Umsattlern, die am Keyboard auch nach Jahren nur die drei wichtigsten Knöpfe gefunden haben. AD INFERNA verstehen es, ihre Kompositionen angemessen dicht zu weben, ohne dabei den Ohrwurmfaktor zu vernachlässigen, und das prickelt unter Hinzunahme der enormen Tanzbarkeit dann doch ganz ge'örisch in mein Bauchnabel.
Während die musikalische Seite auf "Trance:Nance" weitestgehend Oberklasse darstellt, offenbaren sich im formalen Bereich dann doch ein paar Schwächen. Größtes Problem ist dabei sicherlich der Umstand, dass auf dem Album nur sieben eigene Songs stehen, die es insgesamt auf eine knappe halbe Stunde bringen. Erst der Coversong und die vier Remixe bringen die Scheibe auf Albumlänge, was nach all den Jahren dann doch etwas enttäuschend ist. Andererseits finden sich auch unter den Remixes keine Füller, da zum Einen das Ausgangsmaterial stimmt, zum Zweiten jeder Mix seinen eigenen Charakter hat. Man kann AD INFERNAs neuesten Streich also durchaus am Stück hören, ohne allzu heftige Deja-Vu-Erlebnisse zu haben.

Zusammenfassend darf man den Franzosen trotz gewisser Defizite nur gratulieren: Die generische Identität als sinfonische Black Metal-Band wurde abgelegt und nicht etwa durch halbgare "Weiterentwicklung" ersetzt, sondern durch ein schlüssiges und in allen Facetten gelungen umgesetztes Gesamtkonzept. Wer sich mit elektronischer Musik und leichten Gothic-Tendenzen anfreunden kann, findet in "Trance:Nance" eine makellose Ergänzung seiner Sammlung, auch wenn diese Makellosigkeit zum Teil durch Wiederholungen im Songmaterial erkauft wurde. Hätte man auf gleichem Niveau noch zwei eigene Stücke draufgepackt, würde die Scheibe wohl am Neuner kratzen - so bleiben mehr als solide 7,5 Zähler.

Eine ganz andere musikalische Ausrichtung und nicht halb so schlimm, wie es Cover und Titel dieser CD vermuten lassen - so präsentiert sich das Projekt AD INFERNA. Nicht die gefühlte tausendste plumpe Hellektroscheibe wird hier feilgeboten, sondern eine durchaus interessante Mischung aus elektronischen Beats, angereichert mit Gothic Elementen und einer Prise Industrial. ADI stammen aus Frankreich, so ist es dann auch kein Wunder, dass einige der Texte auf Landessprache performt werden. "Trance:Nance" ist ihre zweite Veröffentlichung und enthält neben acht Tracks weitere vier Bearbeitungen, hier findet man so bekannte "Remix-Vagabunden" wie COMBICHRIST oder SOMAN.

Als Opener haben sich AD INFERNA einen Klassiker der Waveszene ausgesucht: "Fade to Grey". Durchaus gelungene Interpretation, die dann musikalisch auch schon fast das Grundgerüst dieser Veröffentlichung vorgibt: Doch eher ruhigere elektronische Beats, gemischt mit fetten Gitarrenriffs. Auch im weiteren Verlauf präsentieren sich viele der Songs auf "Trance:Nance" ähnlich, oft angereichert mit weiblichen, choralen Klängen. Stilistisch wirkt das zwar ein wenig eindimensional, dennoch bauen die Kompositionen eine gelungene Stimmung und Atmosphäre auf. Für die Remixe wurden eher beatlastige Bands herausgesucht, REAPER zeigt auf "Redeption", dass er immer nur (in) eine Richtung kann, während der Remix von COMBICHRIST verdeutlicht, dass Andy aus jedem Material die wesentlichen Punkte herausschält.

Insgesamt präsentiert sich "Trance:Nance" als durchaus gelungenes Werk, welches mich irgendwie an eine Soap erinnert, zwar nicht wirklich anspruchsvoll, aber dennoch gelingt es dieser Veröffentlichung, dass man am Ball bleibt.

Interview with V.V. Arkames and V. Orias A. of Ad Inferna on REFLECTIONS Of DARKNESS

I was lucky enough to interview two members of AD INFERNA, French band, whose style can be described as an intricate combination of industrial and EBM with some elements of gothic metal. The band’s latest work ‘Trance :N: Dance’ will be soon released in Germany and in the light of this event I caught up via email with V.V. Arkames (VVA) and V. Orias A. (VOA) to talk about the album, their music in general and also discuss some near-musical subjects.

Reflections of Darkness (RoD): Your album was released in September. So how do you feel about it right now? Are you satisfied with everything or do you want to go back in time to change or improve anything?
VVA: First of all, ‘Trance: N: dance’ will be out in Germany in few days as well: Soulfood Music has planned the release date for the 29th of January 2010. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this album but if I had the possibility to go back, I would vary several details. As modifying some vocal parts, adding more effects on its or a few Synth lines that have disappeared. And we have evolved musically since we made these songs… imagine that all the tracks were composed since august 2008!

RoD: If you compare ‘Trance: N: Dance’ with the previous album, what can you say about the band’s progress?
VOA: ‘Trance: N: dance’ has been a kind of “test” for us, we didn’t have anything to lose and we would like to make the music we wanted to play before our 7 years of silence. ‘L’Empire des Sens’ was the aggressive and mystic part of AD INFERNA; it was a kind of “passion” that we have released with this album. Several years later, we had evolved, took some “maturation” and ‘Trance: N: dance’ was the proof that you could make EBM in playing some real guitars, real drums and with real musicians. Right now, we have still evolved, and we will once again make a little more for the next opus. We don’t want to rest over here.
VVA: Yes, I think so. We’re evolving each time we’re creating new stuff or remixing tracks for other bands. Above all, we mainly have no limits! We only do what we want, what we like and what we are… not what we’re supposed to compose. I think you’ll understand what I mean when you listen to our new songs. It’s like a travel inside of ourselves: so intense, so dark & sad! But I think, our public is the only one who can tell if we’re really doing real progress or not, ah ah.

RoD: What is more difficult for you, record your own songs or make cover versions?
VOA: Both are complex, both ask a lot of creativity. I wouldn’t say “difficult” but more “interesting”. In this case, I would like to tell that the most interesting activity is of course to compose new songs, but I have to admit that covering songs is as well fun…
VVA: No cover versions will feature in our next album.

RoD: How would you personally describe your sound?
VOA: Unique *lol*

RoD: Who is responsible for lyrics in your band?
VVA: That’s me.

RoD: Is there someone you would like to work with or share a stage with?
VVA: Honestly, I'm already happy to work with Vasi Vallis (FROZEN PLASMA, REAPER) as producer on our next album. And to cross the way of talented & nice guy as Magnus of COLONY 5, Stefan of BEBORN BETON or Kolja of SOMAN is already a great adventure for us. I would like to work with Simon Posford (HALLUCINOGEN, SHPONGLE), Ben Watkins (JUNO REACTOR) or …. David Gilmour (PINK FLOYD): a dream?
VOA: Scarlett Johansson

RoD: What made you decide to become a musician?
VVA: An album like ‘Wish You Were Here’ (PINK FLOYD) gave me so many times pleasure, dreams, fears… that I was sure I can’t spend my time only listening to good stuff. I told myself I had to give all I have to those who are like me and feel things like I do. Perhaps the wish to change the world as much as I can too!
VOA: I’ve begun drum lessons when I was 6 years old, then piano, guitars and keyboards, so I’ve never decided to become a musician; it’s because of my mother. *lol*

RoD: Who was the person who most influenced you, and how? Who are your idols if you have any?
VVA: Carl McCoy (FIELDS OTN), Andrew Eldritch (SOM) or Dave Gahan (DM) perhaps.

RoD: What is your favourite song of all time?
VVA: So hard to say… It’s changing all the time you know: ‘Marian’ of THE SISTERS OF MERCY is probably one… and ‘Last Exit for the Lost’ of THE FIELDS…

RoD: What's your most embarrassing experience?
VVA: All the shit some few people in the French music industry have said when we have taken the decision that AD INFERNA will get back to life in 2008. Now, I admit that the wheel turns and it pleases me enormously!

RoD: What’s your proudest achievement?
VVA: Our next album… so proud of it & love it so much!
VOA: I agree.

RoD: Your band consists of five people. Could you please tell us a bit about each of them?
VVA: Ok, things are changing so rapidly in AD INFERNA! Actually, we’re only 3 permanent members: VOA (composer and musician), VNA (drummer for the gigs) and me (vocals and lyrics). Some musicians like Asphodel are session-members: some others will momentarily take part of AD INFERNA for shows or if we go on tour.

RoD: What's the weirdest thing someone has ever asked you?
VVA: To pay 4,000EUR to get a RMX… by FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY?!

RoD: And is there any question you want to answer but have not been asked before?
VVA: Are you really mad or is it a character that you play? Unfortunately, I’m.
VOA : Yes, I would like to answer to the following question : “why have you decided to sign for this tremendous record company ?”

RoD: If you could be in any reality show what would it be?
VOA : The Kinetics X story.

RoD: Are there any films or books that you can’t understand why you ever liked?
VOA: Can’t understand? Hmm… nope! I always understand why I like a movie lol but yes, why not “Match Point”. I rather can’t understand why I so liked this movie as I hate Woody Allen but I rapidly understand when I look at it again.

RoD: What was the last occasion on which you suffered guilt?
VVA: Some months ago. I think I was too nice and this behaviour allowed a bastard to escape the responsibilities of what he’s done to me.

RoD: And how does your typical day look like?
VVA: Actually… like hell. Except when I spend time for the persons I love & of course to AD INFERNA. Hope we’ll have the opportunity to play all day & night long music and that AD INFERNA will become our full time job.

RoD: And what are your musical preferences?
VVA: The musical genres I prefer? Synth Pop / EBM / Psy - Goa trance & ambient.

RoD: If you had only three colours to draw your reality what colours would you choose?
VVA: Red, blue & silver.
VOA: Black, red, white (yes, white is a colour).

RoD: And finally please tell something to people who will read this interview.

Kennt eigentlich noch jemand Ad Inferna? Vor etwa sieben Jahren trat die französische Formation zum ersten Mal in Erscheinung. Damals hieß das Album "L'Empire des sens" und frönte nach Herzenslust dem melodischen und teils sogar nordisch angehauchten Black Metal. In der True Black Metal-Szene konnte man aufgrund des eingängigen, fast gothischen Touchs trotz eines Falkenbach-Covers nicht wirklich punkten. Leider wurde es danach ruhig um die Formation. Nun sind sie mit "Trance:N:dance" zurück und wie der Titel bereits vermuten lässt, hat sich musikalisch einiges getan.

Doch Trance oder etwa Harsh-Electro-Attacken sucht man hier vergebens. Ja, der Electro-Anteil wurde deutlich erhöht - EBM-Strukturen und Industrial-Anleihen sind vorhanden. Zudem findet eine Clear-Voice den Weg ins Songspektrum. Trotzdem sind weiterhin Gitarren vorhanden – meist im Industrial-Brettgitarren-Stil. Kreisgesang und Schlagzeug sind ebenso da. Vielmehr lässt sich das Ganze in einen stark Electro getränkten Industrial Metal einordnen. Ob man ein Album mit einem Cover beginnen sollte, sei mal dahin gestellt. Dennoch versucht sich Ad Inferna gleich zu Beginn an dem Visage-Klassiker "Fade to Grey" und macht das echt klasse: Die Band schafft es, den eigenen Stempel aufzudrücken ohne die Dynamik und Eingängigkeit des Originals zu verspielen. "Métamorphose" startet schwermetallisch und endet in Gothic-Metal-Gefilden. Besonders hier werden Erinnerungen an neuere Evereve wach. "Rédemption" schwingt darauf die TBM-Keule. "SM for SM" ist im Anschluss erneut Industrial Metal-lastiger und obendrein ein absoluter Ohrwurm. "Suicide Girl" ist recht ähnlich, wobei der Pathos ordentlich steigt – trotzdem wieder Ohrwurmqualitäten. Viele werden sich hier an der etwas monotonen und mit Akzent gesprochenen Clear-Voice stören, dennoch passt das in meinen Augen irgendwie gut zum Klangbild. Danach wird das Album etwas flacher und findet erst mit dem starken "You as my Own Drug" wieder Anschluss. An dieser Stelle setzt der Remix-Terror ein, an dem sich keine Geringeren als Combichrist, Soman und Reaper versuchen. Letztgenannte Remixer setzen bei "Rédemption" den technoiden Hebel ganz nach oben.

Um ehrlich zu sein mochte ich den gewissen Charme von Ad Inferna schon damals. Eigentlich hatte ich die Band zwar nicht vergessen, aber dennoch abgeschrieben. Dieses Comeback hat mich überrascht: Eine solche Neuausrichtung hatte ich auch nicht erwartet. "Trance:N:dance" ist ein starkes Album und es bleibt zu hoffen, dass es keine sieben Jahre bis zum nächsten Album dauert.

Ad Inferna - Trance-N-Dance (2009)

De nuevo a la carga mis amigos, con sonidos dispersos pero interesantes.
Aquí les dejo esta interesante ensalada de sonidos, este tipo de bandas a las que no se les puede catalogar en un estilo definido y por tanto se hace interesante su escucha.
El proyecto AD INFERNA y sus miembros principales, V. V. Arkames (vocal), V. Orias A. (programación,percusión) y Asphodel (coros), desde su debut en el 2002 en su natal Francia supo despegar sobre la maralla de ritmos existentes. Podría iniciar con pedales acelerados y riffs de buenas descargas MetalGoth, luego enrumbar a secuencias potenciales de EBM, sumando a ello la dulce vocalización y coros femeninos. Temas cantados en Francés (la mayoría), Inglés y Alemán; osea escucha redonda, como tener a Xymox, Project Pitchfork con Reaper y una cerezita de Nightwish. Abre el disco, una versión a su estilo de "Fade to Grey" de los añejos ingleses VISAGE, como agradeciendo a los creciditos de la movida New Wave y el uso de los sintetizadores, agregando 3 buenos Remix a cargo de Beborn Boton, Soman y Combichrist. Producción redonda y recomendada para los que gustamos de ritmos no encasillados, saludos.

Visage war eine New-Wave-Band aus London. Sie wurde der New-Romantic-Szene zugeordnet.Bekannt wurden sie durch ihren Welthit Fade to Grey.
Dieser Tanzflächenfüller der 80èr, wurde nun ein weiteres Mal gecovert. Jedoch spielen AD Inferna hierbei in einer ganz anderen Liga.
Französische Sprache gepaart mit extrem genialen Sound, sind Ihre absolute Stärke.
Von hartem Industrial bis hin zu melanchonischem Gothic oder EBM, ist auf dieser CD alles enthalten.
Songs die zum laut hören gerade zu auffordern und die auch in den Clubs für volle Tanzflächen sorgen werden.
Ad Inferna machen Musik aus Leidenschaft und Liebe und dies hört man in jedem Ihrer Stücke!

Fazit :
Bandseite ansteuern, Musik anhören und sich freuen über sehr gute Musik- Made in Frankreich.

“Trance:Nance” degli Ad Inferna pone alcuni problemi di giudizio: la questione è che al suo interno troviamo solo 7 pezzi originali, cui si aggiungono una cover stranamente posta all'inizio (l'abusata “Fade To Grey” dei Visage), e quattro remix conclusivi. Però mi pare indubbio che i nostri ci sappiano fare eccome: il loro ebm darkettone ed ossessivo cattura immediatamente, portandoci idealmente, dopo soli pochi secondi, in un mondo fatto di penombra e di luci stroboscopiche. Insomma, ascoltando questo lavoro è di certo più facile ballare che pogare e, se proprio dovessimo dare un indirizzo a delle orecchie avvezze al metallo, ne consiglieremmo l'ascolto solo a coloro che hanno apprezzato le cose più elettroniche dei The Kovenant, cui talvolta l'uso delle chitarre e della voce potrebbe rimandare. La componente prevalente è però quella dancefloor, cui ben si amalgamano i beat, le voci pulite (ma morbosette) sia maschili che femminili e l'ottimo lavoro nei campionamenti. A dire il vero i remix finali abbassano un po' la media del disco, risultando nel complesso non troppo interessanti, ma il giudizio sulla band rimane largamente positivo.

Welcome to an education in decent electronic, gothic dance music from France. The group kick-off with a cover version of ‘Fade to Grey’ from Visage - while electric guitars add a portion of industrial hardness, the base is solid programming which serves fresh electro meat to the dark discotheques community.

Ad Inferna sing, whisper and recite mainly in French, nevertheless in a quite harsh way without the usual soft and melodic tune of this language and it perfectly fits in with this driving music. While the music is good, it doesn’t really change or develop at all, but at times there is a great mixture of female and male parts – vigorous guitars blend with raspy male vocals and female melodies for the chorus. Funny ideas and changes in rhythm decorated with electronic ingredients make this album rise up out of the average.

The only real problem is that there seems to be a lack of perspective to the music that means after a few songs the album turns into background noise. If you have listened to one song on here, you’ve heard them all – this creates an easy job for any DJ who can just choose any track because they are all of a decent standard.

The last four tracks are remixes. ‘Vertige’ by Beborn Beton sounds more dried out and reduced than the original, Combichrist’s remix of the same song makes it more dirty and scratching. When examining the originals, the reason for including the remixes is not obvious except to blow wind on the mills of promotion.

In conclusion – it’s a good choice for radio or club DJs. The album’s an excellent dance record enriched by French charm. We’d recommend it for private people alongside hardened club goers too, who like to listen to dark dance music while handling anything else but parties.

Guter Harsh-Elektro aus Frankreich ist wirklich etwas besonderes. Doch zur Zeit macht eine Band namens Ad Inferna bei DJ`s, Clubs und Webradios die Runde. Mittlerweile hat die Band mit "L`Empire Des Sens", "Metamorphose", "Suicide Girl", "Sexual Music For Sexual Mass" und aktuell "Trance :N: Dance" (Dreamcell11/Soulfood) fünf CD´S realisiert. Mit Suicide Girl (Klub Rmx) hat es Ad Inferna sogar auf die aktuelle "Extreme Sündefall Nr. 9" geschafft. Auch in unseren Charts vom Monat Januar haben Ad Inferna den 3. Platz geentert. Und so haben wir uns entschlossen VVA. und VOA. von der Band für euch zu interviewen.

Ruhrschall: Euer Bandname lautet Ad Inferna. Welche Bedeutung hat dieser Name?

VOA: Als wir vor gut 10 Jahren noch in der Dark/Black Metal Szene gespielt haben, hatte Ad Inferna eine sehr düstere Bedeutung für uns, denn es ist, in etwa, die lateinische Übersetzung von "aus der Hölle". Gerade jetzt, und viele Jahre später, bedeutet Ad Inferna für uns noch das Gleiche, aber nicht mehr nur im rein übersetzten Sinn. Besonders weil wir dachten, das wir einige erschreckende Zeiten und Momente durchlebt haben. Und nun sind wir wieder da!
VVA: es bedeutet ungefähr, was immer du auch tust oder sagst, es ist immer ein fester Teil deines Schicksals ... aber wir kämpfen, um den unaufhaltsamen Verfall zu verhindern.



Ruhrschall: Wie entsteht eigentlich eure Musik?

VOA: Je nach Tag und Stimmung. In der Regel komponieren wir mehrere Tracks und nicht nur ein einzelnes Lied. deshalb sind unsere Alben immer Konzeptalben. Am Anfang besprechen wir unsere Zielrichtung für das Album sowie das Gefühl welches wir mit unserer Musik und Texten vermitteln wollen. Unsere Ideen, welche symbolisch dem Konzept des Album entsprechen, werden sofort festgehalten. Auf diese Art und Weise komponiere ich dann einen Track nach dem anderen. VVA schreibt die Texte und nimmt die Vocals auf. Danach diskutieren wir immer viel über das Endergebnis, um die Songs noch besser zu machen. ich finde, Die meisterhafte Zusammenarbeit in der Band, besonders zwischen VVA und mir, dürfte der Grund sein warum der Sound von Ad Inferna so besonders klingt.

VVA: Ich übertreibe mal ein wenig, aber nicht viel: Im Grunde genommen heißt es nichts anderes als morgens auf zu wachen und sich fragen was wir heute für Musik machen werden......frei wie vögel spielen wir was wir wollen; was wir fühlen und was uns gefällt.



Ruhrschall: Wie sieht das LineUp der Band eigentlich aus? Bzw. wie sind die aufgaben verteilt?

VOA: Ich komponiere und spiele die Musik. VVA schreibt die Texte und Performt. VNA ist unser Live-Drummer und für das Programming während den Shows zuständig. Ad Inferna ist mehr als nur die genannten Mitglieder. Wir haben die Möglichkeit mit Session-Musikern, für unsere zukünftigen Album Aufnahmen und Shows, zu arbeiten.



Ruhrschall: Wie würdet Ihr euer Musikstil beschreiben? Und wie hat sie sich im laufe der Zeit verändert?

VVA: OK, am Anfang, mit "L'empire des sens" haben die Leute und Medien gesagt, wir würden Symphonic Dark Metal mit einem Hauch Gothic spielen. In einigen Reviews über unser Album Trance:Nance definiert man unsere Musik als eine Kombination aus verschiedenen Stilen wie Electro, Industrial und Gothic. Für unsere zukünftigen Produktionen werden sich sicher die Kriterien sicher noch mal ändern. Ich kann unsere Musik nicht einer bestimmten Schublade / Musikstil zuordnen. Ich denke, Ad Inferna ist und bleibt ein musikalisches UFO geschaffen um unseren Hörern und uns viel Vergnügen zu bereiten.



Ruhrschall: Musik wird zu gern in Schubladen unterteilt. In welche würdet Ihr Euch stecken?

VVA:Ad Inferna ist ein seltsamer mix aus Synthpop & EBM mit mit dunklen Elementen aus der Hölle. Aber was ich persönlich bevorzuge ist.....Synthpop!!!



Ruhrschall: Gibt es für Euch vielleicht auch einen besonderen Ort der Inspiration?

VOA: Auf diese Frage habe ich nicht wirklich eine Antwort, es ist eine sehr komplexe Frage. ....das einzige was ich dazu sagen kann ist das ihr niemals etwas lustiges von Ad Infena hören werdet. NIE!

VVA: Ja, meine innere Tiefe. Wenn ich dorthin abtauche, kommen die Inspirationen sofort und manchmal kann ich dann alle Lyrics eines Albums innerhalb einer Woche schreiben ;-) Es ist schwer, dies auszuführen aber das Ergebnis ist ganz ok.



Ruhrschall: Wie sieht Eure Studio Arbeit aus? Was steht zuerst? Die Musik oder der Text?

VOA: Idee, Musik, Text, Musik, Text, Idee, Muski, Tex.

VVA: Bei der Trance:Nance haben wir mit einem teil meier Lyrics begonnen. Aber bei unseren neuen Tracks hat VOA zuerst der Musik das Leben ein gehaucht und dazu habe ich dann die Texte geschrieben. Persönlich bevorzuge ich diese Reihenfolge.



Ruhrschall: Gibt es auch musikalische Vorbilder für Euch? Bzw. gibt es Musiker die Eure Werke beeinflussen?

VOA: Natürlich findet man immer eine Beziehung zwischen der eigene Musik und den Bands die einem in der Vergangenheit gefallen haben. So ist dies eine Art der tiefsten Inspiration. Auf diesem Weg entwickeln sich Musiker durch die Musik anderer Bands weiter! Für mich sind es z.B. Bands wie A-HA, Depeche Mode, Pink Floyd um einige der älteren zu nennen, aber auch talentierte verrückte Musiker wie Sopor Aeternus. Heute begeistern mich auch die Arbeiten von Bands wie frozen Plasma, Mind in a Box, VAC usw.... Aber auch hier kann ich nicht wirklich sicher sein ob es meine Werke beeinflusst, ich hoffe es aber, denn das würde bedeuten, das wir einige großartige Songs erschaffen.



Ruhrschall: Mit welcher Band würdet Ihr denn gerne mal zusammenarbeiten?

VOA: Reaper (oops, mit ihm arbeiten wir bereits), Soman, Beborn Beton, Micky Noise und mit fast all diesen Bands haben wir auch schon gearbeitet! Wir sind immer für großartige Kooperationen offen.

VVA: Jaah, das ist richtig. Insgesamt mit allen die wir seid der Produktion von TND kennen gelernt haben. Es ist unglaublich, denn ich glaube nicht, das man sonst so viele professionelle und nette Musiker in diesem Umfeld trifft! Vasi Vallis (Frozen Plasma) und Kolja (Soman) sind wirklich großartige Persönlichkeiten. Das ist für uns Grund genug um in Zukunft wieder mit ihnen zu arbeiten.



Ruhrschall: Eure aktuelle CD "Trance:Nance beinhaltet 12 Tracks. Und gleich der erste Song ist eine Coverversion von "Fade To Grey" . Wie kamt ihr darauf gerade diesen Song zu Covern?

VVA: Wir haben uns entschieden, das zu machen, weil wir diesen Song lieben und wollen so den 80´ern Tribut zollen, was mich so geprägt hat! Wir wollten beide dem Original treu bleiben aber dem Stück schon einen Hauch von Ad Inferna geben. Darüber hinaus haben wir beschlossen "Fade To Grey" als sanfte Einführung auf die erste Position des Albums zu nehmen um damit auch unser Fortschreiten zu markieren.



Ruhrschall: Die Songs 9-14 Sind Remixe von Beborn Beton, Combichrist, Soman und Reaper.Wie kam es zur Zusammenarbeit mit gerade diesen Bands?

VVA: wir haben einfach mit ihnen Kontakt aufgenommen und sie gefragt ob sie auch einen Teil zu unserer CD TND beitragen möchten.... Und sie zugesagt! Wir sind sehr zufrieden mit den 4 verschiedenen Versionen unserer Songs. Wir halten noch immer, ausgenommen Combichrist, Kontakt zu den Bands. Auf Grund dieser tollen Zusammenarbeit haben wir beschlossen, Vasi Vallis (Reaper) als Produzent für unser neues Album zu wählen. Und dazu gleich eine heiße News: Zur Zeit arbeiten wir am Mastering von unserem neuen Werk.



Ruhrschall: Sind weitere Remixe von anderen Bands zu erwarten?

VVA: Yep, Colony 5, Supreme Court, C-Lekktor, Micky Noise....



Ruhrschall: Wie zufrieden wart Ihr mit der Resonanz auf Eure CD "Trance:Nance"?

VVA: Wirklich beeindruckt... und meist durch die Reaktionen der deutschen Medien (Zeitschrifeten, Webzines und Radios) und allen DJ´s, die unsere Songs ausgestrahlt haben, sie sind wirklich fantastisch! Ich erinnere mich noch daran, als wir aus dem Studio von unser Produktion zu TND kamen und uns ein paar Jungs erzählten, unsere Musik wäre zu viel elektronisch für die Metal-Szene und umgekehrt. Aber das ist Bullshit und der Beweis liegt nun hier! Überall auf der Welt haben uns aufgeschlossene Leute wirklich guten Feedback gegeben und wir sind wirklich glücklich darüber. Ehrlich gesagt, ich hätte nie gedacht das TND so viel Leidenschaft und Unterstützung bei den Menschen erweckt. Vielen dank an Euch alle!



Ruhrschall: Wie und wo kann man Eure aktuelle CD Trance:Nance erhalten?

VVA: TND wird in Deutschland von Soulfood seit dem 29.01.2010 veröffentlicht. Und ist bei Amazon, Infraro, Poponaut, Indietective zu bekommen. Und ich denke das ihr die CD bei eurem Händler um die Ecke bekommen könnt. Im Moment verhandeln wir mit einem US Label über eine Lizenzveröffentlichung in den USA



Ruhrschall: Wann dürfen wir denn mit einer neuen Veröffentlichung rechnen?

VOA: Wir hoffen in der zweiten Hälfte 2010!



Ruhrschall: Wie seid Ihr eigentlich bei dem Label Aural/Dreamcell11 gelandet?

VOA: Aural wurde durch unser Album TND wieder auf uns aufmerksam. Es war uns eine große Freude dort zu unterzeichnen, nachdem es solange ruhig um uns war. Nun ich denke, unsere Horizonte sind vielleicht zu unterschiedlich und unsere Erwartungen waren zu verschieden aber wir haben stets einen großen Respekt vor ihren Entscheidungen.

VVA: Wir haben bei Aural nur für eine Lizenz von TND unterzeichnet. Im Moment sind wir frei um uns für die besten Optionen zu entscheiden. Es stehen uns verschieden Wege offen und wir werden uns für den Richtigen entscheiden.



Ruhrschall: Wie wichtig sind für Euch Compilation Beiträge? bzw. gab es da schon Anfragen?

VVA: Es ist eine fantastisch Art und Weise sich von vielen Leuten entdecken zu lassen. Zum Beispiel die Tatsache, das wir auf der Extreme Sündenfall 9 vertreten sind und auch eurer German Gothic Radio Compilation einen Track beitragen werden, ist eine Gelegenheit für die Leute mehr von unsere Musik kennen zu lernen. Ein anderer Weg ist, das wir unseren Track "Redemption (Reaper BUM RMX)" bald für die DJ-Community "Darktraxx" zur Verfügung stellen. Mehr kann ich noch nicht sagen, außer das wir sehr gute Bands gefunden haben deren Songs wir Remixen dürfen und ihr diese Remixe dann bald auf deren Werken wieder finden werdet.



Ruhrschall: Wie steht Ihr zum CD Release als Download? Oder bleibt für Euch die echte CD das wesentliche Medium?

VVA: Es versteht sich von selbst, das MP3 , WAV oder andere digitale Formate die einfachste Lösung ist unsere Musik auf PC´s oder iPod zu hören. Doch wenn man eine gute HiFi-Anlage besitzt gibt es keine wirkliche Alternative zur CD.

VOA: Kein Zweifel, die CD. Ich hasse MP3 auch wenn man manchmal zu ihrer Verwendung gezwungen ist. Aber weil man MP3 so einfach downloaden kann, wird gute Musik nicht mehr wirklich gewürdigt. Denkt doch mal zurück an die Zeit als ihr noch Kinder wart, und man noch viel für eine CD bezahlen musste..... heute bekommst du alles was du willst!



Ruhrschall: Wann dürfen wir Euch in Deutschland Live erleben?

VOA: Bald? ;-)

VVA: Auf jeden Fall nach der Veröffentlichung von unserem nächsten Album. Wir lieben die Menschen in Deutschland. Und wir wollen Heiße Konzerte Spielen. ;-)


Ruhrschall: Was dürfen wir denn bei einem Auftritt von Euch erwarten?

VVA: Wir werden alles tun, um denen die kommen, eine unvergessliche Show zu bieten. Wenn wir Zeit und Mittel haben, möchten wir an einem Film arbeiten der dann im Hintergrund projiziert werden soll. Auf der Bühne werden wir dann zwei Sängerinnen und einen Schlagzeuger haben. Wir werden alles tun um unser Album-Universum Live umzusetzen.


Ruhrschall: Mit welcher Band würdet Ihr denn gerne zusammen Auftreten?

VVA: Frozen Plasma oder Colony 5 zum Beispiel.



Ruhrschall: Eure 3 persönlichen Lieblingsalben sind?

VOA:

1) VAC / Twisted though Generators

2) EverEve / Seasons

3) Sopor Aeternus / Ich Töte blablabla



Ruhrschall: Wie wichtig ist für Euch MySpace?

VVA: MySpace ist für uns sehr wichtig. Es ist ein gutes Mittel um mit unseren Fans in Kontakt zu bleiben.



Ruhrschall: Welchen Stellenwert haben für euch Charts (DAC/ Media Control usw.)?

VVA: Wir hoffen doch bald in in den DAC vertreten zu sein, aber ich denke wir brauchen da noch etwas Support...... Ich hoffe das jemand diese Zeilen liest und uns hilft die Charts zu kommen. ;-) eh eh


Ruhrschall: Was ist für Euch persönlich immer eine Sünde wert?

VVA: In Harmonie mit unserem Album würde ich sagen "LUXUS"



Ruhrschall: Was ist das Schönste daran Musiker zu sein?

VOA: Sich selbst ausdrücken zu können. Kräfte zu wecken die man sonst nicht hat wenn man nicht ehrlich mit sich selbst ist. Man trifft einige große Personen, Hörer und Freunde. Und man kann als Musiker seine Geistigen Stimmungen verbreiten. Und natürlich ein Interview zu geben (lol )


Ruhrschall: Ihr kommt aus Frankreich, was aus/in diesem Land würdet ihr Eurem Besuch empfehlen?

VOA: Rotewin aus Bordaux, Champagne. Und die schönsten Teile unserer Landschaften, le Bassin d'Arcachon, la Dordogne. Ich kann Euch viele Dinge sagen vorbehalten Sarkozy ;-) Ein typischer französischer Mann ist jemand, der keinen guten Charakter hat und niemals glücklich ist, sondern er denkt immer er wäre der beste und muss stets andere belehren! AH AH. Ist es nicht so? Solltet Ihr mal nach Frankreich kommen kann ich Euch nur eine Party mit dem Ad Inferna Team empfehlen!
