Addictive drums?

The one thing I dislike about all the clips posted here is that snare ringing after the attack. I always feel I have to gate that out. It's the Sonor snare right? I always end up using that one and lately I just blend it with other samples. Not as obvious being unprocessed but this is the same snare soloed:

Maybe it's just this particular snare but I hate that ring.

I'd rather listen to a mix with AD than SD. There's something horribly generic about a song with SD in it, not sure what it is but probably just the overabundance of mixes on here done with SD. Even though more compressed, I feel AD has a more natural sound and better sample rotation. To truly get an incredible sound out of AD, you have to tweak it. Have a real drummer come over and tweak it, that'll save you a lot of trouble.

Well just gate it man. problems solved.

i have slate and AD - never messed with SD unfortunately.

out of these two, slate is better if you want to have a decent drum sound in no time.
however, the best results come from blending them. i tend to use ADs cymbals, slate kick and toms, and the snare will be a 50:50 blend of AD and SSD.

Never tried AD but I am getting very satisfying results with SD2. The main thing for me, is thinking like a drummer and thinking how the cymbals react to the playing. The only thing I am having a hard time sorting out is the hi hats - drummers usually swing the tempo of the hats and THAT is really tough to imitate.

Under the heading of .... I'm a guitarist, not a drummer, Damn It!!

I'm thinking about buying a drum trigger replacer software. Can't I buy any of the available $100 software programs like EZ Drummer, and then get samples online for more sample choices? My concern though is, am I limited to a certain number of toms/cymbles I can play at one time? For instance, if i wanted to do a Rush cover, could i do it on EZ Drummer?

Just did a quick web search and I don't think so, i couldnt even find the midipacks for sale anywhere else, looked on Thomman, Musician's Friend and the GC website, nothing. I got mine at GC back in summer of '09.

I have used Addictive drums for like six months now and have got pretty good sounds out of it.
Btw im new at replacing drums, i feel like i should replace the kick from addictive drums with some samples. How do you do this in logic pro9? I know i have to route kickdrum out of addictive drums to the seperate track but i cant seem to find any software for logic to do the triggering. Is there any free ones?
