Adjusting your Cabs freq response properties

this has just come across my mind after watching that lame marshall cab vid in kevs post, and was wondering if anyone knows any general rules to eliminate or enhance certain frequency spikes that are emitted when im micing my cab up.

i know at the end of the day i should just try and get the best possible setup, but i cant afford that!!

so for example, is there anything i can do to the cab to eliminate the 4-6k and 8k spikes im getting (and its not to do with mic placement) as ive tried all that and it seems to be generic regardless of what heads going thru!

maybe a pointless thread but just wana see if there is any hope

hmm was just wondering if there would be any known mod to do inside the cab, like add a baffle, some insulation etc etc cheers tho guys!
