Adrenaline Mob's new one sounds like....

No wonder Portnoy left.
I doubt the quality of the music had anything to do with that decision. He didn't even beat around the bush when saying that Adrenaline Mob didn't get as much traction as he had hoped for so he decided to focus on Winery Dogs and other projects. If Adrenaline Mob was making more money, he would still be there.

This seems to almost be his reason for every band. I honestly think he wants a band that'll get as popular as DT and it's just not going to happen and certainly won't happen out of the gates. What he needs to do is focus on one or just a few bands instead of all the projects he keeps being a part of.

I'm waiting for him to campaign for the newly-open drum throne in Slipknot, but I digress.

Here's the interview I referenced if anyone is curious - http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/mike-portnoy-says-adrenaline-mob-was-not-growing-fast-enough/

Sounds like 5FDP, or Drowning Pool, or some other type band. It's obviously designed for that audience. I can't say it sucks, and there's nothing wrong with aiming at the younger crowd, but I'd never listen to it.

I did like when Allen's vocals went up toward the end...

This is clearly meant for a different crowd. However, I would say even compared to artists in that genre it is average at best.

Also, it is a little embarrassing to see dudes in their mid 40's still writing/singing about tough-guy machisimo.

Sure, why shouldn't people complain about lousy bands?

Meh...I guess...I'd rather spend my energy trying to be positive about someone's artistic expression then to rip it apart. Do I think all bands are great? No...I just don't feel the need to tear down a band because it doesn't fit my preference...if I don't like something, I just don't buy it and leave it be.

Sorry. I love ADRENALINE MOB.

I also love Adrenaline Mob, sounds refreshing to me. Also, Portnoy joined the band after the album was written. He was not an original member. Disturbed, Sevendust, drowning pool, could not sound this modern when they were the nu metal modern bands.

Still don't like the songs Adrenaline Mob does, but, I do love Allen's vocals as always, and that guitarist is seriously great. So it's worth at least a few listens. Funny thing is, I don't hate this style of music, it's just that they don't write very good songs in this style. They should consider outside writers, because it is a talented band and I do think they can be successful.

^ I would say you hit the nail on the head. I don't really see the point in listening to them when there are bands like Shinedown and Alter Bridge that do it so much better. Moreover, it really goes to show you how important writing a song is to just being proficient at an instrument or whatever.

I'm honestly not sure what you find refreshing here. I would be interested in some expounding on this point if you don't mind.

I find your comparison of Drowning Pool, Sevendust, and Disturbed (if we count them in their primes especially) to this tune to be rather insulting to those bands.

:hypno:

I thought the interwebs were created to piss and moan.......

Ah, but those bands don't have Russell Allen and a shredding guitar player.

That's my point though. Being a shredder clearly means neither jack nor shit if you can't actually write songs, and while I'm a huge fan of Russell Allen - I'm not going to listen to a record just because he's on it. A few people on this board have made the "X is such a good singer I can listen to him read the phone book" thing, but I never understood that personally.
