Advice please before I fucking smash my recording deck

I am trying to write a song to a CD and this piece of shit machine tells me 'No stereo track.' I looked at the manual and it says this means there is no song with a master track longer than 4 seconds.

How the fuck is that? This song is about 2min long...what do I do about it?

Hey it's ok! I got the thing to work. Seems I forgot to save the stereo track....DUH. *smacks self in the face*
