And I don't think someone who listens to shite like ACDC, Dimmu Borgir, Therion and Nightwish is qualified to be commenting on their songwriting ability.
I love people who make big collages in their sigs of the shitty bands that they like, as if anyone gives a fuck.

One quick listen tells me that this is pretty good, some tracks considerably better than others...the obvious highlight for me is Pantheist. Nothing else immediately struck me. I seriously need to explore this genre further by artists who actually know what they're doing.
I thought most of their 'special', side releases were on vinyl.

AC/DC wrote ass-kicking songs many times.

Go listen to the end of "Our Fortress Is Burning" and tell me that has nothing in common with ambient music.
I'm not saying they are an ambient band, but they're definitely more interested in creating ambience then they are in rocking.
Anyone who can't appreciate any of those bands has no idea what songwriting is.
You lack sense. The last track on AATG isn't even a song!! Whoa! what an amazing track to pick to support your dying case. Whether they make ambience or rock it really don't matter, because in the end they make steller music. Just steller.
Fuck acdc, who the hell gave the drunk the microphone anyways? Oh great! Now he's on the fucking floor, again!
Too bad "steller" isn't a word.
And thanks for taking my point out of context. That was in response to someone saying Agalloch have "nothing in common with ambient music", which that track shows is not the case.
What a steller argument.
