Okay so I bought The Mantle last week, and I'm not liking it as much as I thought I would....it's a little too gothic for my liking....I'm not criticizing the genre, but it's not my thing.
Anyway, could you all tell me about the other albums, like the differences among them maybe.....Should I give them another chance and check out other albums?

Well, Pale Folklore isnt exactly a "concept" like the mantle, and the songs dont use half as many acoustic guitars, and almost none use "odd" instruments...so i think you'de probably enjoy Pale Folklore more.

hehe, I didn't imagine that there would be any confusion involved in this, but since there may have been....thanks for clearing that up

I liked the acoustic guitars and stuff.....but other than that....

Pale Folklore is more varied, more electric guitar (rather than acoustic), has some really nice female vox on two songs.... great album. Overall, the song structure, as far as the whole album, in The Mantle is more coherent. They both take repeated listenings to fully get into it, but I recommend both personally. They are, however, very different from each other. At least, different enough to make a comparison of quality difficult.

I only have Pale Folklore and consider it a masterpiece. Lots of my friends told me it is a lot better than The Mantle, some think The Mantle is better though.

NP: Eternity X - The Edge

I have the Mantle and like it alot, but I like the two mp3's I've heard from Pale Folklore better, (forget their names) and I plan on buying that album eventually.

heh, well everyone except Elliot seems to like Pale Folklore better, hehe....hmmm
And I believe you were the one who told me about Agalloch

ah well, maybe I'll download a couple songs from PF and see for myself.....thanks for the replies

Yes, yes I was, my young Kentucky-ite vixen. HAHAH everytime that Nappy Rootz video or song "Po folks" was played on MTV or on the radio, Id always think of you, when the little girl says, "I love Kentucky!" and they are rapping and singing all over Kentucky..."All my life been Po, it dont really matta no mo, and they wonder why we act this way, nappy folks gonna be ok" That song rulez...

anyways yeh, dl Pale Folklore, I remember you liking that one alot when I sent it to you.

Whhaaaaaaaaaat?! hahaha.....Nappy Rootz????

wait a minute....this jerk that used to live here who had lived in Bowling Green for a while said something about doing crack with guys from Nappy....whatever....oh my....Well, THANKFULLY I've never heard any of what you're talking about, haha

I purchased The Mantle after changso recommended them to me.

I played it many times and was pissed because I just blew about $10 on a cd that I didn't really like...but as with others...

Sometimes it takes one moment for me to finally "get it."

I was giving The Mantle another chance, just basically playing it while working on some homework, and then, I Am the Wooden Doors began to play and the acoustic lead in the background played, and I said, this is cool. I got it! The next "get" for me on that cd was The Hawthorne Passage, the final segment of that song is just plain fucking killer. The rest followed.

Some may never "get it." And you may be one of them, but who knows? Play it when you are bored and have nothing else to listen to and then maybe the "get" will happen to you.

I purchased Pale Folklore about a couple of weeks ago, it is very good too. As for which one is better...the jury is still out for me.

I like both albums the same.... no, no, probably Pale Folklore a bit more. Hehe, yeah...
Their second release, Of Stone, Wind and Pillor, is OK...

NP: Iced Earth - Dracu-fuckin-la... ! Beautiful song.

I got turned on to Agalloch a couple months ago..I have The Mantle and LOVE it. I honestly don't know where a "gothic" element would come into play here:confused: . I love good acoustic melodic stuff like that. I may Pale Folklore as a x-mas present to me:grin:
