Ah ha! this is where Nephilim goes

Well I do own "revelations" collection, but not a big fan and bought but later sold "elizium" and "the nephilum" Most songs are rather long drawn out affairs that just sort of ramble on
with mumbled vocals and hazy sound.

For gothic music in the 1990's I much prefer stuff like:
Switchblade Symphony - Serpentine Gallery
Type O Negative - Bloody Kisses
Moonspell - Wolfheart

I can understand why you'd think that the songs on Elizium are rather long since they are more in the ambient form of goth but in The Nephilim, almost all the songs are straightforward rockers. Only Last Exit For The Lost and Love Under Will are rather long and perhaps Endemoniada.

Anyways, FotN (especially The Nephilim album) are my fave goth rock band alongside with The Cure. Fucking magnificent!

What about the current crop of Nordic goth rock/metal acts like:
-HIM
-Tenebre
-Charon
etc.

The Cure has some decent (if pretty mainstream) semi-gothic rock
-disintegration
-pornography
-faith

Disintegration was the creative peak for Cure, following Cds seemed to not break any new ground or surpass the style of the classic Cure material.

I really hate that wannabe goth rock like HIM, Sentenced or Charon. If you're gonna do goth rock, do fucking goth rock, not some pop with "gothic" image.

My opinion too.

I will go for "The Sisters Of Mercy", Bauhaus, Joy Division, Siouxie and the Banshees ect ect. But those are nogtrealy Gothic. Together with the Cure they fit better in the New Wave/ Indy Wave Scene. But I don't have to tell you that.

A Perfect example for Gothic Metal is Lacrimosa, definetly nr 1!!

And hereby an "Up Yours" for all those who call, After Forever, Nightwish, Within Temptation ect Gothic. Please Wake up!!

two words: PARADISE LOST.
