So I think something is up with my computer. Yesterday I was on it and everything was running perfect. Then all of the sudden things start bogging down and I start to hear weird noises from the computer itself. The noises sound like clicking and the hard-drive spinning. I checked out what my CPU is doing and when I run Sonar the CPU maxes out. I have two HD's in my setup. One I store all my aps and OS on and the other I have all my audio data on. Anyone have any clue as to what might be going on? How to you know if a HD is failing? Weird thing is I can still use the HD drive in question. It just makes a lot of noise and slows everything down.

I suspect the one I have all my audio data on is failing. Reason being is because when I open up a project that has the audio stored on the D drive things go crazy. So what I did was moved one of my projects onto my C drive and ran it from there. Low and behold it worked fine.

I am in the middle of a project and am worried to all hell. :(

You should make a backup as long as you can! Don't wait! do it now!!!
backup all the data on the "clicking" hard drive. The thing is dying!!!
so hurry!!!!

That is gong to be the first thing I do when I get back to the studio. As soon as the problem started I shut everything down and started searching for answers on the internet. Come to think of it I should have backed things up sooner. Are you sure the drive is failing?

Kind of...
Had the same sound on mine a while ago and it died. Backup your data and format it, maybe you're able to use it again afterwards as bad sectors are normally taged so that they aren't used by the OS again (at least on Windows don't know about Macs...).

I had 3 HDDs who all died soon after the first clicks appeared. A friend of mine had the same problems. I wonder what brand you are using.
Mine were IBMs, as well as my friends they were about 1- 1 1/2 years old.

Ha mine are Western Digital and about 5 years hold. I just started a back up which is going to take over two hours. God I hope it does not fail by then.
