THESE ARE ACCORDING TO SOUNDSCAN.....that means it only includes the 17,000 record stores who they ask....this doesn't include the small record stores like in my small town or internet sales or sales at any live shows......your name fits you though:p

The sales as of May 17 2000??? That has to be wrong. Some of these albums weren't even out yet. Even if you mean May 17 2002, Halford's new album still hadn't been released.

my computer was crashing when I posted this and I didn't want to lose the info.

the first 4 albums were as of may 17

the rest is from different points in 2001

to look for stuff yourself go here

http://www.metal-sludge.com/SludgeScanChart.htm

request nevermore sales and other good metal like blind guardian or death

I requested Nevemore, Iced Earth and two slayer albums(reign in blood and South of heaven)

btw...I am fully awar that album sales do not reflect talent but it is cool to see how bands are doing in america

The sales are all from america alone

The last soundscan i saw Dead Heart had about 19.000.

Does anyone know where soundscans can be found from other countries such as places in europe. Id like to see the difference as there definetely is one.

I think soundscan only exists in canada and the USA but I think you need permission to enter soundscan records, because if you go to www.soundscan.com it won't let you see anything without passwords.

Exactly. A friend of mine used to work in DVD distribution and explained it to me. All records sales through Soundscan are the sales of the initial order from the supplier to the retailer. This does not accurately count the actual sale to the consumer. That is why pop artists are always called "the multi-platinum recording artist." The thing is this. How often do you see large quantities of Nevermore, Iced Earth, Opeth, etc in large retail chains? Not very often. So the Soundscan report on bands like these are actually closer to what was actually purchased by the consumer. That is also why there are hundreds of copies of Brittany Spears and that putrid ilk still on the shelves.

I think the first three Metallica's cds are better than the first three ones of Megadeth. Then Megadeth always did better records, but only the "name" matters to sell, and the promotion was different. In America there are too many little trendy brainless kids. We need more metal freaks! It's unfair that a great singer like Warrel is forced to do the cook to live. He'd deserve to live just by his wonderful music. Fuck the fuckin' media! Fuck the trends!

I think the best way to look at this for us is that we are lucky.

After all we've made the effort to find this great music so lets enjoy it to its full potential. Here on this board there is a community that isnt to big to spoil it and then there is the band who have no pressure to sell out, making the music they love.

It is dissapointing when you look at these scans and ill do my bit to help promote these such bands. Maybe it will change one day but until then we should take it as it is.
