After 15 years of listening to this album I still get amazed each time I put it on by how unique and weird it is. Really otherworldly sound that hasn't been copied to any success 20 years after its release. Top 5 albums ever material for me.

Thergothon vs dISEMBOWELMENT

I'd still go with dISEMBOWELMENT as I am impressed with the last track of the album but I surely have to revisit Thergothon.

Oh fucking agreed, as much as I love Stream From The Heavens, which I really do, diSEMBOWELMENT will always hold a strong place in my heart and mind. They're one of the ugliest bands in existence. Your soul feels filthy listening to it.

Thergothon by far imo, diSEMBOWELMENT are good and all, but they are more in line with similar bands while Thergothon have this unique atmosphere that I just love.
Speaking of extreme doom(ish) pioneers, another great band and also a favourite of mine is Unholy. Sadly severely underrated.

Well they are pretty unique, so not alot of bands. ment more the general feeling/atmosphere of the album which imo are more in line with "standard" extreme doom (more than Thergothon anyway).

I really love the rabid, early Carcass-esque grinding elements that diSEMBOWELMENT mix into their crushing extreme Doom myself. I actually feel like they have a very unique atmosphere compared with most other bands in the style. But I guess I see your point.

I'm liking this much much more the 3rd time around. I have to not think of it as a new wave of thrash album, because it's not as intense as Havok or Fueled by Fire or...

But if I think of it as say a recent Megadeth album (mid paced thrash), damn this is good. It's better than anything Megadeth has done in a long time.
