Albums currently kicking your ass

Hearing Darkthrone was like stepping into another realm or something.
That basically sums up my thoughts when I first heard Transylvanian Hunger. It really way like being transported into another world (more than likely a cold, Norwegian forest in the midst of a winter night) as hyperbolic as it might sound. Honestly its still like that whenever I listen to it. Those riffs, the vocals, the production. I'd never heard anything like it.

Still magical. One of heavy metal's finest moments. This, Sad Wings, Epicus, and Slumber of Sullen Eyes are always at the top.

Is it weird that "Tomhet" is my favorite track on that?

I was much older than most when I got into Metal, I'd say about 15 or 16. What about yourself?

For me, it was during 2002-2003. That would make me 15-16 as well. I had heard metal that I liked earlier, but it didn't become a genre that I spent significant time with until then.

I still have aitns on cassette, that was a game changer for me as a kid, I remember my mates and I really got carried away with atmosphere and I remember the interview they did in a mag saying they wouldn't fly in planes being too close to god and denouncing soul side journey which I was already a big fan of,in fact that was probably my most listened to dm album but nowadays I'd go with uafm.

I have tons of questions I'd like to ask everybody that relate to different subjects, so instead of making things complicated (like derailing threads with unrelated subjects) I'll just do it all in one place.

I'd love to ask stuff like first Metal album(s) you purchased, what age did you get into Metal, how did you get into Metal etc.

I was actually talking to comrade Omni but cool story anyway!
I'm obviously not as old as you, so 15 in 1995 probably is about average but from my experience with people that grew up in the internet age (early teens in the early 2000's) a lot of people got into it earlier.

Yeah, I knew you were talking to Omni, that's why I made a big deal of butting in to the conversation by thanking you for the question hahaha.

I was 15 for black metal but I'd been listening to metal since I was about 10. I remember distinctly a kid who was one year older than me playing Motley Crue's 'Dr Feelgood' in 1990 when I was 10 years old. Not exactly 'metal' but that's a good place to trace the genesis of all this. By 12 it was Guns N Roses, the Black Album (yeah yeah :)....), Alice in Chains and I can't remember what happened after that.

What thread is this again? I have no idea.

Edit: Also, the album is spelt 'Transilvanian Hunger' , not Transylvanian. You're all misspelling it like wimps and posers.

Alittle late ro this but my favorite Darkthrone album is ABITNS (best bm-album ever, atleast of the puritan kind).
I got into them via UAFM though and Natassja in Eternal Sleep was probably the first bm song I liked and it's the second bm-album I bought after blind buying DMDS and thinking those vocals are weird I need another album and went back to the record store the day after and bought UAFM too.
