Albums currently kicking your ass

What about Impiety? Riproaring Singaporean black metal.
Isn't Nuctemeron's first demo considered an underground extreme metal classic? Maybe I just have a bad perception because iirc the tape was one of the most expensive sold on eBay once.

I said sounds, as in most stuff coming from those countries is raw as fucking Hell.

What I mean is F.T.W actually has a pretty good, balanced production.

Finally got around to giving the new Obituary a crank or two, and, as Bobby Blitz might exclaim, "Jesus Christ in a Slayer t-shirt!", you boys weren't joshing when you said this was arguably their finest since The World Demise. The new Obsessed album has got my doom metal chub in full steam drive. And a little bit of a classic Ratt album I haven't touched in a while for whatever reason.

Iced Earth's last great album. I've been listening to Iced Earth the entirety of the time Ive been listening to metal and I keep hoping one day they'll find a little bit of that glory.

Couldn't agree more. I read your text before the image loaded and was hoping you were referencing Horror Show. It and Something Wicked are definitely the most complete overall albums. Everything before is great, but maybe not quite as cohesive with some iffy/filler tracks. After? Meh. Lets not speak of it...

I'm not saying it's a masterpiece or anything, but Forbidden is WAY better than people make it out to be. Enjoying it day in and day out this week.

Currently listening to Thunderhead's (pre-Warning S.F. (pre-Ulysses Siren)) 'Live at the Boston West 18/9/1982' bootleg. People wanting more perspective on early Bay Area thrash should listen to this, especially the first half of the bootleg. Pre-Show No Mercy Slayer, pre-Bonded by Blood Exodus, and Battle Cry-era Omen all in one thrashy Maidenlicious package. I mean, this shit was even a month before Metallica played their first show in San Francisco. Too bad these guys never really got it together as a stable band.

I remember slapping it on and being dumbfounded at Tony, for the first time I can recall, sounding zapped. Just creatively drained.
I'm a staunch defender of the album but there are parts where it seems like they know that the days of that line-up are near their end. Remember it wasn't long after that the reunion with Ozzy and Bill happened. Something tells me that Iommi knew what was in the cards during the recording. Nevertheless I'll repeat what I've said a few times here and say that I've always felt all the negativity tossed at Forbidden is mostly hyperbole, most of it having to do with Ice-T on "The Illusion of Power", his biggest contribution to the song lasting around a grand total of 13 seconds save for the backing vocals during the chorus. Compared to the rest of the Martin era, yeah its not on par with something like Headless Cross or Tyr, but its far from terrible.
