Albums that look like they sound

a real good thread!

Katatonia-Discouraged ones
Katatonia-Tonight's decision
Dissection-Storm of the light's bane
Dismember-Massive killing capacity
Lake of Tears-Headstones
Amorphis-Tales from the thousand lakes

To go off the theme a bit:

two covers that have nothing to do with the music:

Unida's Best of Wayne Gro... - it's beautiful with the wolf in the forest devouring some animal, but it looks like a black metal album. The music is blues-rock, not close to black metal.

David Gray's White Ladder -I'm not even sure what the thing is. Some kind of window through a chain link fence? It doesn't say anything about the music, and looks like some dance record (maybe?) with the cover.

I think that it will be interested!

ok... If we are talking about cover and music under case, what about meaning of cover and some concrete details:

First of all, what does TheMind's I cover mean? What do you think?

I haven't any ideas, but cover art makes some shades in music and ... i don't know, how can i explain it.... hope you understand! I like TMI cover a lot!

So,any ideas?

I know there are alot of Pantera haters, but Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power is a great example, and Meshuggah's Chaos Sphere.

an album cover that really doesnt go along with the music would be Soilworks-The Chainheart Machine, and At The Gates- Slaughter of the Soul

well I disagree...I find Slaughter Of The Soul cover, quite fitting the content ;)

as for the ones doesn't fit at all???
Morgana Lefay - Maleficium....magnificent cover, crappy music.
Dream Theater - When Day And Dream Unite....I don't understand that cover (a frightened man to who someone is about a firemark the DT logo), it looks like more for a hardcore or trash band...

as for TMI cover...I think its a mixture of many things....something that could take "someones life"...why not...the MIND'S I :)
What do I mean??? well look at it...what's there, roses (for love), silky stuff (lust), the wooden pendant (religion), the bone jaw (the flesh and body) and finally the paintbrushes and paper (the arts) so it could be a bit of a meltingpot of one's mind, don't you think???
it could be possible....or not :p
fathervic (guessing once again)

Carcass - the early original covers (look at Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious and tell me it has anything to do with the music)

Well, I specifically meant Reek and Symphonies, but I still think Necroticism fits the music pretty well...they were still going with their med school-type lyrics with that one, hence the whole autopsy atmosphere.

Dark Tranquillity - Projector

Amorphis - Tuonela (both are a little bit like the '70s)

Statement about Maiden:

Iron Maiden, the covers paint a harder band than the music really is.

I just got the David Gray CD. The cover is even uglier than I thought it would be...

I can't believe they used this cover... and it totally does not fit the music (which is about depression, false love, alcoholism, and other happy subjects :p )

There are also no pictures in the CD for which I can flip over and use for the cover... I just try not to look at it...

my Lunar Strain copy does look like a Lunar Strain....it has a distant view of the earth with some red chains above it :)
it's cool....
