fitting them with mesh heads, putting them onto a drum rack and using a Alesis Trigger IO. Recording real cymbals along with it. After all you don't really need triple flanged hoops and all that fancy stuff as it's just for triggering.
I would expect it'll come out a fair bit cheaper than the DM10.
Or you could go the DIY route and butcher a crappy drumkit and it'd be very cheap I expect.
