Alice In Chains

"I've eaten the sun so my tongue has been burned of the taste" was such an awesome line to me.
Not to sound like that guy, but if you weren't around to hear this album when it came out, you have no idea how hard it rocked. Several years of my life were defined by this album.

That's funny. I was going to ask you about that track as an alternative to the one you posted.

AIC were a GREAT band. The best of that so-called "grunge" scene and the one of the very few high marks of the 90's. There is no reason I see as to why you, Erik, shouldn't really enjoy this band seeing how you love Katatonia, Deadboy, et al.

yeah i like them for the most part but sometimes there is an overabundance of Big Dumb Riffs

going to give it dirt bit more time and then listen to the dog album, too

the vocalist does not fit with the music but some of the riffs are pretty good

I've been listening to Dirt daily in order to absorb it. I seriously wish I had more of a passing interest in Alice in Chains growing up. This band is the only worthwhile thing to come out of that genre abortion known as Grunge. Real heartfelt material from a group who by all accounts, weren't playing for the pendleton shirt wearing assholes who needed an escape from their daddy issues. I also quite enjoy the cinematography found in their music videos, which is quite an accomplishment as I don't like music vids Period. I tried giving Facelift a listen but the latter half is spoiled by a lack of focus and an easy out of filling the record with a bunch of bubble gum hair rock. Hmm, don't know what they were thinking there.

I'm not liking the new song too much, vocals aside. It started out pretty good, and then meh. Has some parts that might make it grow on me though.

alice in chains always was one of my favorite bands. they are extremely talented, extrememly connected with each other and the music they wrote. the new stuff is good. and jerry still has it, but there was such a cool connection and vibe between his and layne's voices. the harmonies were haunting. and the songs were so deep and heartfelt. i have a bunch of favorites. but i love "nutshell" and "dont follow". absolutely amazing. and believe it or not, i listen to them on a daily basis and have done so for years. probably always will.

I hate when people say cryptic shit like this about music. What does this even mean?

its not cryptic at all really. if youve been in a band before, you know how two people sometimes just have that musical connection. its almost impossible to jam with certain people, others arent on your level, and then other people connect with you so well that they know where you are going with a song before you do. lol they seemed to have had that kind of connection. everything they did was just so seamless, it just flowed. and you get the feeling that they are really in tune with each other.
