Alienware for recording?

Are you sure you want to go with a DVD ROM and not a recorder ? Having an ability to record CD and DVD can be very useful.
Everything else looks OK.

Yep. :)

[edit]One tip just popped in my mind: when handling naked electronics you should always first ground yourself to get rid of any static electricity that could potentially damage some more delicate components, so just touch a central heating pipe or a metal water pipe and only then pick up your CPU or a motherboard.

This is especially important in the winter when air gets so dry in our homes that static electricity quickly builds up to really funny (and painful while discarching) levels. :)
