Hey guys,

My computer just isn't good enough for my new projects, so I need help to build a new one. Here's my current specs, maybe I could keep some of the parts from my old computer to save some money on the new one.

Motherboard: ASUS P5QL PRO
CPU : Intel core 2 duo E8500
Graphic card : NVIDIA GeForce 6200 turbocache
RAM : 2GO (don't know what it is)
Hard drives: WD Caviar Black 1TB, WD Caviar blue 160 gb

I already have all my peripherals (keyboard, mouse, monitor, pci-firewire card). I think I could keep both hard drives, my case and my power supply. Maybe videocard too? Mine is probably ancient though...

So basically I'd need new motherboard, cpu and ram (and videocard?). I need at least 8gb ram. I don't know anything about mobo, cpu and ram compatibility so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Max

I have that exact setup for my hackintosh (except 16gb of ram and gigabyte mobo) and it is fast as hell. You can easily overclock the processor to 4.2ghz if you buy a $30 cpu cooler.

Basically this, get an i5 2500k a decent air cooler + overclock -->Profit.

Your current PSU should be fine too, so will everything else.

The only other thing you might want to look at is getting a small SSD to run windows from....
And unless you wan't to play games then you don't really need to bother with a new GPU either.
