Firstly love the live album (hell its the first time since 1991 that I have heard my favourite song,`Time', performed live).

Secondly whats everyones opinion on the sound quality of the recording. Its a bit muffled at times although something tells me thats more my crappy sound system than anything.

Thoughts?

On the whole though I would've like maybe 1 or 2 more songs on the DVD version. But its great.... and one thing that really got me excited was just watching the boys doing their interview with Julya.

There was a vibe there - an excitement like when you meet with your good ol friends that you haven't seen in a long time. I haven't seen that vibe in the band for a long long time and thats no attack on John or Rob either but I can honestly say for once in my life I was actually very excited about the prospect of this lineup producing a new studio album. :headbang:

I only have the CD, but the only sound issue for me is the beginning of "Caught in a Mosh". I was doing my live show and planned to play the full album to give everyone a taste of what it was. The song starts and it sounds like it was recorded on a bootleg copy and I was freaking out! "Holy shit, don't tell me the CD's copy-protected or some shit like that!"

Well, low and behold, it was just a funny opening. I think that's it.

Yep I heard that ... Scotts opening riff is really low and I was cranking up the volume then BOOM Danny's guitar comes in and nearly kills me!

Yer I don't wanna sound like I am bagging this album as I felt the sound quality was good though MMD was better. However there are aspects of it that far outweight MMD as well - the fact we have our first proper live album with the classic lineup for starters!

For what its worth I reckon Joey is brilliant on this album. He high notes in Deathrider are just sensational.

Well thats the second live album this month I am getting into - the other is Maiden's Death on the Road (do they ever put out a bad live album?). Can't wait for that DVD as well. :headbang:

I got the dvd a few days ago and I'm digging it. I just wish Scott would tune his guitar up to standard again, its still downtuned a half step and it just doesn't work with the older songs. Anyway, I know that has nothing to do with the sound quality or anything, just something I thought I'd point out ;) .

It's a pretty authentic live recording with very little overdubs that is what it is and it sounds killer IMO!

It is pretty raw sounding too ... but I think my old sound system just can't cope.

I still can't get my Record player needle to fit properly on the CD o_O

You are trying to play the cd on your old mono record player aren't you ??

By the way, Maiden should of release Seventh Son on Vinyl only.

You just won't let up on that 7th Son issue will you :). The DVD is pretty hilarious in parts (the extras). Watching the boys remember some good ol road stories is like seeing a family renunion. It was good to see. Seeing Danny hug Scott. Its good ... it makes you realise that as you get older things are not so black and white and true friendship usually endures all. ah ... group hug. I guess we all have issues with people in our life and at the time you do say stuff - doesn't mean a bridge can't be rebuilt though.

Good for them I say.

I still think Rock in Rio is better than Death on the Road... but Live After Death is still the best of them all (now what is screaming for a 5.1 DVD remix or what!)

It was loud as hell at the actual show. And Julya can suck my dick, but other then that I would appreciate it if she kept her lips closed.

You can tell on the dvd that she could care less about the band and what they have to say.she's just filming to get paid.:yuk:

This show was filmed near the end of a very long tour and Bruce's voice was starting to struggle, which is understandable
If that's the case then they should have chosen a different show, one where his voice wasn't struggling.
