Guitarist Phil Fasciana of long-running Florida death metallers MALEVOLENT CREATION was reportedly involved in a bizarre shootout at a convenient store in his hometown of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. According Fasciana, he pulled into a small store at around 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon (July 3) to get something to drink and walked right into a robbery in progress. "I went in this little store on my way home to get a chocolate milk, of all things, and little did I know, I was walking into a life-or-death situation," he says. "When I walked into the store, I did not notice anyone else in the store until someone started screaming at me and pointed a gun at me. I nearly shit myself, because the dude looked wacked out of his mind and fired four shots directly at me and I went down to the ground because I thought I was surely shot. After about 30 seconds, I realized I was not hit at all and the shooter thought I was dead or injured and started attacking the store worker when I snuck up behind the burglar and talked [to] him and took the gun out of his hands and told him to get out of the store. He then reached in his sock and pulled another gun out and pointed it at me and that's when I fired two shots into his head, killing him instantly!

"Never in my life has anything so twisted happened to me before and I would like to forget it ever happened, but I had no other choice. Lucky for me, the stupid crackhead burglar had the worst aim in the world and missed me with all four shots from about 10 feet away! Needless to say, all charges have been dropped and the store owner has offered me a lifetime of chocolate milk! Ha Ha!

"I have been in some scary situations before, but having someone shoot out you from that close and miss is a fucking miracle and I have no remorse for killing the assailant who tried to take my life and the store owner's.

"I gotta move out of this town!! I have enough problems as it is!!

"I am very lucky and could easily be dead at this moment, but I'm not and I'm gearing up for our Mexican, South American and European headlining tour which start at the end of July.

"I would like to put this behind me and not talk about it anymore. It was the most fucked up thing I have ever been involved with, besides my ex-girlfriend!!"

UPDATE: According to Phil, the entire incident was captured on the store's surveillance video, but the police has yet to release the tape.

BLABBERMOUTH.NET could not independently confirm the veracity of any of Fasciana's claims at press time. Furthermore, BLABBERMOUTH.NET could not find any news reports that corroborate the guitarist's account.

Awesome as fuck! I would kill to get that much free chocolate milk as well:lol:

Holy fuck, that's incredible - I dunno, in my heart of hearts, I still kinda feel bad that the robber had to die; everyone deserves a second chance, and blah blah blah liberal hippy stuff, but don't for one moment think I'm condemning Fasciana for his actions, he was totally right and I could only hope to have done something that utterly fucking badass if I were in the same situation. I just feel a general sympathy that this person had to die, when we knew absolutely nothing about him; people make stupid fucking decisions, and trying to kill others is definitely one, so again, I can't stress enough that I think he...deserved? what he got, or at least utterly had it coming to him, but I still wish he could've been wounded and at least had a chance to change. :(

Oh well, one less crackhead out there!

Definitely no need to feel remorse, I'm all for pacifism and stuff, but when someone doesn't hesitate at all to take your (or any innocent person's) life, you should feel no hesitation or remorse either. It was 100% self-defense, and now he has free lifetime supply of chocolate milk! what a merry happy ending for all! Burglar deserved a punishment IMO, not like I'm god or anything, but If I ever was as brave as that dude I would've done the same thing

:puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke:

I feel no sympathy for the guy at all.

Yeh, fuck coke. Hail Weed!:headbang:

:kickass: :D

But yeah, I knew I'd still get some "Pukes" and some "it's a happy ending, self-defense, case closed" responses, but what can I say, I just feel that's an oversimplification, and a denial of what makes us human, our potential for compassion and, on the other side, to reflect on our actions, and hopefully realize the wrong in them.

Unfortunately, the only story I can share that really makes me feel this way is an epically nerdy synopsis of Dragon Ball Z, but I still think it's applicable; Piccolo is the absolute archnemesis of Goku (the series protagonist) in the original Dragon Ball series, and after their final battle, Goku has the advantage but still shows him mercy in the hopes that he can change. Many years pass, and Piccolo bitterly secludes himself, but with the arrival of a new threat to the Earth, he's forced to join forces with Goku (in a "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" arrangement) to battle this new threat. The threat is defeated, but warns of more coming in a year, and the battle costs Goku his life (though the beauty of the show is anyone who has died can be wished back with the Dragon Balls, useful skill that :lol: )

However, what I'm getting at here is Piccolo, still bent on world domination, recognizes the upcoming threat, and sees that Goku's young son Gohan has enormous untapped potential, and takes him for that year to train the son of his sworn enemy for the good of the planet. And through that year, he develops a friendship and affection for Gohan, and it's the beginning of his change to becoming unquestionably the series' most noble, heroic, and badass characters (there's much more to it than that, of course, it's very believable, but that's the short version). And then when Vegeta, one of the invaders who arrives after a year, is finally beaten, Goku urges his friend Krillin, who has a sword to Vegeta's neck, to spare him, because if Piccolo could change, then Vegeta deserves the same chance. And as the series goes on (though it takes 8 seasons) Vegeta too changes, but the development is so long and believable and the payoff so epic and moving that it's just incredible. So yup, life lessons as taught by DBZ! :D
