Also tried some "cab convolution" today.

The 2 patches:

http://student-kmt.hku.nl/~tymon/5150 Rhythm 1.l6t

And the 2 impulses used were downloaded from Keiffer:
http://www.esnips.com/web/KeiffersGuitarClips
On the recto I used: 22a-blablabla.wav
And 5150 I used: 57 +3_00.wav

I also tried the same trick with GT6 modeling, I always thought they were better at the gritty mid area, the EQ curve sucks a bit though:

Thanks for posting these! It looks like the impulse you used on the 5150 is one of my Marshall T75 impulses I created a while ago, but what's the one for the recto? Is 22a-blablabla short for 22a-v4-4x12-v30 ? Probably so but just checking.

Cool, then thank you too for that great impulse! It's one of the best sounding in the bunch, went through them all. The 22a is indeed the one you mentioned, there's only 1 22a file so I thought that would be clear.

I'm pretty sure that's Keiffer's one of a Diezel V4 4x12 with v30's :)

I think I like both the pod and the gt-6 one, the gt-6 patch reminds me of Opeth to be honest. And the lead on the XT one sounds like a Petrucci like lead tone to my amateur ears.

22a-v4-4x12-v30 is one I've created

22 - impulse number 22
a - is the convolution SW setting/option
v4-4x12-v30 - Ampeg V4 Cab loaded with V30

the 5150 impulse is in a collection of other's impulses as stated in the download description.

Tym_ex, glad one worked for you. Impulses can sound very good. Excellent clip.

So I downloaded some impluses to give it a shot, and they sound great! Except all my playing is off time now. Is there anyway to fix this or do I just go back and rerecord drums?

dude you GOTTA tell my what amp settings that was on the gt6, I've been trying for so long to get something decent out of it, and you made it!!!

Well, to be honest I made those patches in only 20 seconds so they won't sound better then yours I guess. Another thing is that the device used is a Roland VG-88, but it uses GT6 modeling so I think you have the same settings. Anyways, the settings are:

amp: metal 5150
volume: 10
presence: 0
master: 50
bass: 41
middle: 46
treble: 37
gain: normal
no cab sim

amp: r-fier orange
volume: 32
presence: 28
master: 50
bass: 49
middle: 55
treble: 53
gain: normal

I think it can sound much better then what I did in this clip with some time and patience.
