I got these two today for a good price, and I have been blown away by both. I knew the band before, but it's great to just listen to a whole album beginning to end, and as I understand these are two of if not the two best Morbid Angel albums ever released.

So, which one do you think is better? I find it very very hard to decide at the moment, particularly as I've only just got them. I love the truly energetic, raw, insaness of Altars... but also the more sort of powerful edge to Blessed and perhaps superior songwriting? not sure.

What do you think, and why??

Blessed by a small margin. It's a more complete album overall; their songwriting was indeed a bit more refined and the interludes add some spice. Plus, Fall From Grace is my favorite Morbid Angel track ever.

Well Ill say Altars, as it was thrashier, and thus I seem to listen to it more. Its a tough choice, they both are classics.

Blessed are the Sick definately. Altars of Madness, although kickass, is just a collection of songs. Blessed... feels far more coherent and successful as a whole peice of work.

Both are great but i'd go for Altars. It's a very raw cd and Heavier for sure.
oh, and Chapel of Gouls is one of my favourite songs. :headbang:
