Gotcha, thanks. My in-laws lived in Rockland for a few years...so we always made it a point to atleast visit and stay for the annual Lobster Festival held in Rockland. I'm sure you've heard of or been to it? I should have mentioned the breakwater stretch that runs out from Rockports Samorset resort to the lighthouse point...this is such a great hangout / scenic location.

I hear about the lobster fest every summer, but I've never gone.

My brother worked at Samorset for the summer.

@ Panzerfaust, you might be interested in the Himalayas. I went there for a trek and it was priceless without modern gadgetry and frugal living. The local people are very affable and are quick to offer help. It was almost like a spiritual journey for me and a lot of it still hasn't been commercialized, which is a great thing.

I have been to various places in the U.S. and Europe when I was a kid and then again to Europe about 4 years back. No pics to substantiate how amazing those places were, but I managed to find one pic in front of the Eiffel Tower.

I'm not posting pics but I've lived in Hawaii, Germany, and Italy. There's quite a plethora of amazing things to see in all of those places.

Man Indian girls are hot.

I love seeing pictures of people in places I've been. I stood right there in front of the Eiffel Tower. It's crazy how many millions of people have pictures of that same location.

@ BMWG

Wow, that's a part of China I had never imagined. That's also one of my images of Shangri-La that I had. Also, I heard that the boat trip to view the Angel Falls is amazing.

@ krampus -
The roads around Baden-Baden were kickass. I remember going on long drives along the Black Forest and it was awesome. The feeling of rural Germany is quite different and as pleasurable as the bigger cities such as Munich and Berlin.

Went up to Mount Charleston today, it was pretty damn nice. And oddly enough, its technically in Las Vegas. Anyways, heres some pics:

It really was, and I had a delicious 1/2 pounds kobe beef burger with some of the best bacon and bbq sauce ever. Great view from the restaurant too:

I've driven Hwy 50 in Nevada during the night. Most godforsaken area I ever went through. Wonder if some of it looks like that in the light.

It looks a bit like that in west northern Nevada (around Reno/Carson City) but I hadn't seen anything like this anywhere else in Nevada, but then again I've just been in Vegas and through the 15.

:puke:

There are some decent stretches of I-15 to the 10 to LA, but it's mostly shit I know. I hate that whole part of Cali. The only oasis is the Morongo casino (which I liked way better than Vegas casinos)

I just came back from doing the Transmongolian Express, which is a train trip from Beijing to Moscow, via Ulan Bator in Mongolia. That was pretty amazing, endured some ridiculously low temperatures. China was quite barren, there would be villages with very old, tiny brick houses, then nothing for hours and then massive factories belching out smoke and stretching for three or four kilometres. Mongolia was even more barren, occasionally you'd see Ger camps and the very odd tree. But the closer it got to Russia the prettier it became. Rural Russia was pretty spectacular, especially around Lake Baikal, the deepest lake in the world. Everything was covered in snow and the wooden cottages in rural towns were very picturesque, painted in quite bright colours a bit like gingerbread houses. But you'd also see lots of abandoned Soviet era factories and other buildings which were quite surreal. Decent sized towns in the middle of nowhere, just completely empty. After that I went to Finland, Norway, Belgium and Germany. I've also lived in Japan for a while and previously visited France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and the UK.
